Yeah I think the TQL was like that on mine to. Even asked permission to record audio. Why would any tracking app need that? They must wanna hear me say what pieces of filth they are.
Ya know...I just hate brokers

I don't see this as a broker issue. This is 100% a company issue.
If the comapny ever gave out my phone number to anyone I would be cleaning out the truck at the next truck stop. I'm a driver, I'm not dispatch. It's dispatch's job (or someone in the office) to be a liaison between the customer and driver. If I wanted the hassle of dealing with customers, I'd become an O/O.
That said, if the company paid for a phone and wanted me to install micropoint or whatever I would. The phone stays in the truck with the ringer off though. I would never use my personal phone for any of that crap. -

Well, FWIW, I feel the same way about brokers... or felt the same way, back when I was on the road. The less contact with 'em, the better, as far as I was concerned. Ray Carlisle said it best about brokers: "They're nothin' but a low-life in-between..."
This 'cover' of Willie's tune is pretty funny too...
singlescrewshaker and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I’ve never allowed any app access to anything other than my location and they all work as they should. No matter what app it is I keep the location off until it’s needed. Once they text and I see the link to what app they use I turn the location on for the app, then click the link for my load info. But I’m also an o/o leased to carrier, so I expect to deal with brokers on some of our return loads.
If I were a company driver I’d ask for a company provided phone to handle the things related to your job. And given the current state of the industry and the rates I’d be hesitant to stay employed at a company that is 100% reliant on the spot market, especially being paid on percentage. Lots of companies out there that pay decent and offer detention pay whether they get paid or not. Most of the complaints you have are related to your company, not brokers specifically, because it’s your company that is making you do your dispatch’s job.D.Tibbitt, Ruthless, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this. -
The large Carriers have stipulations in their contracts against brokers calling one of their drivers directly. Same rule usually applies for the driver. All communication must go through dispatch. Being a small company you may have no choice. As a 1 Truck operation, I have no choice. I get the same BS. Tracking on, phone calls on top of it. Sometimes from 2 or 3 different people. Last week I heard “Thank you for answering “. I wanted to say “Thanks for the hassle”. Lol. They’re only doing their job. It’s nothing personal. Only way to make it stop is to avoid those who bother you too much. Right now it’s worse than ever. If you don’t like it, there’s plenty more where you came from.

Ding ding, we have a winner!
I've never had to deal with any broker calling me. Yeah I've had a customer call me once or twice, but that's VERY rare.
Dealing with brokers should be the company's problem. They pay people for that. They pay you to drive the truck.
And, if quitting a job makes you unemployable, you've got some other issues going onJoeyJunk Thanks this.
