I see a few new job ads for Local LTL Drivers. Everyone’s scrambling to get the freight. Some of it’s hitting the freight boards for now anyways. Till it gets absorbed.

They’re advertising in my area.$32 hr. Owned by UPS. Must peddle freight with a hand jack. My question, Manual or Electric? Lol, I’m sure it’s manual.

IMHO the electric jacks are more of a hindrance than a help.

I wouldn’t think that if everything we handled were on CHEP pallets, but every peddle hand with more than 14 minutes experience knows that’s certainly not the case.

If I can’t move something with my manual jack and trusty oak 2x4 that I keep handy, then as far as I’m concerned we shouldn’t be hauling it anyway.

In my job I don't have to pallet jack anything but the people who do where I bump the dock have an electric pallet jack pulling blue or red pallets comon... about 20 minutes a stop +/- Works pretty good for them, me?, I just make sure they're getting their pallets so I don't gotta come back again later. Easiest job I ever had hahahha

Finally got an official letter stating I have been permanently laid off, lol. It seems to be time stamped on July 31st, so I don't know how it took 2 weeks to arrive. Talk about being late. Prior to this, I hadn't gotten a single call, notice or letter from Yellow(Or Union). Everything I found out was from the news and this forum. In fact I still have their Touchpad ELD because no one told me to return it, and I hadn't worked the entire week prior to July 30th, so I wouldn't have seen anything posted on a wall. I mean I personally knew I should've returned it before the fallout, but I wasn't doing #### until they told me. Guess I'll keep it as a memento.

In any case, I finally found another trucking job. I never got a callback from any of the other LTL's I applied for, so I ditched LTL and went into the tanker division. Home every other day, I get my own truck, the truck is fast and the pay is much better than what I was being paid at Yellow, so this is a huge upgrade for me. Hopefully after doing this for a bit I can move up into hauling cryogenics. No more sitting around all day for a call, staying in crappy hotels and getting bent over by people with higher seniority!

We've got a few electric jacks at my yard that are shared, and they can be a lifesaver. My run is about 95% lift gate and usually about 25-50% residential, so it makes my life significantly easier when I've got flooring, tile, long freight, etc.
