    its stupid, they share some advice and then the driver follows the advice does something stupid, it results in a media circus, Government passes a new law and now the driver is upset because the government is trying to keep him down

    There are many of us here on the forums, as well as in person out on the road, who are happy to give guidance to other drivers who request it. If any driver gives you advice about a particular law or regulation that you may question is true or not, have them reference the statute under the law. As a newer driver, take some time to read through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. The online version gives a good overview compared to flipping through the paperback book you normally receive in orientation for a motor carrier. You do not need to know them verbatim, but at least know them well enough to know what area of the regulations covers each part of the job as a truck driver. Many of the regulations are there to protect you as a driver, so use them when needed.
