Im a grad from CT area and I have herd the same thing about loads being sparse. I have prehires from all the major starter companies and herd all the recruiters doing what they are paid to tell you. But I have also talked to a number of drivers for most of the companies and they are all telling me negative things about all of them. Yes I know no company is perfect, but why would the companies all be pushing for new drivers if the freight is so slow? It doesn't make any sense. That is just going to push new drivers out if they are not making any money. Most of the guys and gals that I trained with were out of work and looking for work in the industry and are really good at it. do you really think that they will stay if there is no driving time? I personally don't want to spend all of my time out sitting in my truck waiting for a Qualcom text letting me know where my next load is for three days.
