Back in the day when I was doing technical training in the Air Force, we had pretty high standards for my MOS... there were only a few career fields that got that level of trainee, and they didn't let dummies in. Just the same we'd washout students for failures, and some who just couldn't get the hang of it.
Yeah, they run a lot of newbs through the program at ol' Bolts 'r Us, but they have something like 14,000 tractors too. That's a lot of seats to fill - and there are many good reasons that those seats change bottoms too. One of the guys I know over at my carrier hung up the keys... diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Now someone is going to have to fill that seat, whether they've got 20 years or no years and need trainin' up. Not every last one of those folks who make the initial cut out of training are necessarily going to be rocket scientists.
BTW, in my opinion, the OP's attitude in the first post sucks. Hope he never has a bad day...
Yet another "Swift" move.

All training companies hire a lot of dunderheads. Like any other field, you have to go through 10 trainees to find one or two who will make it.
If this guy had a few years' experience, there would be a good chance he could have the name of a "good" company on his door...and still be a putz.
Regarding whether the company is safe or not, all you have to do is look at hard numbers. Swift's crashes per million miles is not very high at all. Especially considering the sheer numbers of new drivers working for them. -
IP, I apparently don't catch the same feeling from the O/P in either his original post or his second, following it up. And you know how sensitive I am to attacks on Swift.
Looking at that bridge, would Shreveport consider placing reflective tape on its sides so it can be seen easier at night? Similar to the reason we have it on our trailers?volvodriver01 Thanks this. -

The kid has 3 years OTR experience and thinks he knows more about the biz than I and others who have been in the "Game" longer than he's been alive....

I believe I already said he's a putz.
What more do you want? -
I refer to them as "Stupidity Laws". Not because they are stupid. But because they are written to protect stupid people.
Have you considered what it would cost in "real" money? To put up reflective tape on every bridge to protect so-called putz's.
100's of millions in tax payer money. Because some dumb ### can't or won't pay attention.
What next? A flashing BLUE light at each bridge when the tape doesn't work? Because you and I both know. A flashing yellow or red light will never work.
Protecting or insuring the well being of a ######, only prolongs my agony.lonewolf4ad Thanks this. -
Dance, the politicians have to protect idiots. If they ever died out they'd get voted out.
Working Class Patriot and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
Rather spend my tax money on reflective tape than studying whale farts or some of the other nonsense I see it being used for.
volvodriver01, DragonTamerBrat and dancnoone Thank this.
