It was dark and raining hard? So its ok to hit a 12' bridge. You've got to be kidding! What else is ok to do if its dark and raining? Rearending a school bus? Run down pedestrians? I can't believe the number of drivers saying that this is somehow excusable. This is what you get when truck driving schools train people to pass the CDL test, not train them to operate an 18 wheeler professionally. This guy is probably one of the jerkoffs blazin thru the truckstops at 40 mph. Or maybe his "mentor" wasn't able to put him in his "comfort zone". What has become of this profession!
Yet another "Swift" move.

No bro 4yrs believe it or not there is experienced drivers with Swift most are local paid their dues. OTR is hard on a noob I myself didnt go thru Swift I turned them down but I did local AG for 1 yr before I was OTR I didn't feel ready after even after 3 months so I stuck with it for 1 yr Ag seasonal grapes, tomatoes, corn and I got into my share of hickups but I didn't leave my comfort zone till I was ready I didn't wan't to put myself or others in danger I respect big rigs and value my life. Mills on the other hand put the entire public in danger by letting these new guys do OTR too quick they are always threads about new "Swift" drivers, not good.

I know what you mean...when I got my route planned and see a bridge I immediatly start looking for a sign sometimes desperately while slowing down at the same time if the sign is no where to be found I'v stopped before and blocked traffic get out my measuring tape and do it like that I'v only done that once but I will do it anytime.

Like I said....You're one of those AG drivers running 99 aka "NAFTA Driver"....
otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Looky here...its another pointless internetz pissing contest!
Injun and old-school Thank this. -
What do you care I don't see your point you don't pay me like you never pulled a bone head move in your early days when horses where still pulling wagons and that was considered a commercial vehicle

The Qualcomm system Swift uses gives their drivers fuel routes and final directions to the receiver. Of course, it never hurts to actually call the receiver and get their take on it, as well. 30 seconds of that driver's time could've saved him a lot of headache on that one.
I wasn't there to see what happened, but I would dare venture to say that there was inattentiveness on the driver's part. I seriously doubt this was the first tractor-trailer to go to whatever customer that truck was going to, and most other trucks probably make it to that customer without incident.
Get stupid, get lazy, get complacent out here, and it'll come back to bite you in the ###, and it'll bite hard. This guy found that out the hard way. -
Yep! My DM told me first day that anytime I got a load it was good Idea to call and verify directions ! "Just in Case" we have to remember anytime we take off in a truck we are responsible for everything that happens !
