I will take the good, the bad, and the ugly. I just want to learn. I think I have the fuel pump down, lol. I can see where that would agitate anyone.
Jakaby Thanks this. -
For so reason a lot of drivers don't have CB's or there off what's up with that this trucking a CB is a important tool at times and also can pass the time away
New Drivers Buy a CB within ur first few weeks u can get a Cobra 29 for $40 there are good for weather conditions, traffic conditions so u won't have to sit threw 20miles of stop in go traffic if you can get off and find a new route and bear reports and good conversation makers well with other slow trucks that is because u will lose the fast trucks very fast lol.
a few weeks ago my friend had to park in the center lane of 70 in KY a few weeks ago and slept highway was shut down point is he had no CB and he's been driving 2 yrs but if he had CB could have pulled off and shutdown if another relayed the messageShamrockSalono Thanks this. -
Should have bus ticket in-hand today. I am also going to finish up shopping for items I need for school. If anyone has any suggestions on items that may come in handy, please let me know. Thanks.

What all do you already know to bring? If I see what you already have I might can catch something you missed or might need in addition to your list. We could also see what you are takin that will be in the way.
Another thought is if you are going directly on the road with a trainer after the school. If thats the case, the A good rule to go by is to pack as if you are going off in the Navy on a submarine. I say that because the space you are alotted to live in when you are not sitting in the drivers seat is going to be about as big or smaller than if you were aboard a submarine.
All things considered, the first things I would tell you to have are a good pair of work boots, clothes you don't mind getting dirty or ruined, and a good pair of what we in the farming south call "roping gloves". Those are the same gloves you see bull riders wearing on the arm they are holding on with. They're leather, have reinforced palms, and good ones have a draw string to tighten the top. Wells Lamont is the first brand that comes to mind and you can pick them up at Wal Mart or Tractor Supply if y'all have one. Get two pair. One pair to wear when getting diesel or doing any kind of truck maintenance, and another pair for anything else.
When you get your gloves, take a big pot of water and boil it until you have a lot of steam. Put your gloves on with the string real tight and hold your hands over the steam. Keep your palms open over the steam, opening and closing your hands. Ever heard the term "fits like a glove?" You will get a good fit with that steam. Good gloves are made from cowhide which has pores. That steam opens the pores up around your contours and forms the hide around your hand. Think if it like this- take a sponge and dip it in water. Doesn't pick up much unless you squeeze it, right? Good gloves do the same thing. Good gloves are essential in this work. More so if you are going to ever drive flatbeds. Always keep two good pairs plus a backup pair.
And that concludes today's glove seminarLast edited: Feb 20, 2013

Jakaby, I have the bare essentials. of course, I have plenty of clothes, flashlight, gloves, and notebook and pens to takes notes. That's about it. As far as I know I will be coming home for a couple days after the three week training, before I go to orientation and then out with a mentor. Thanks for the suggestion on the gloves as well. Good info.
Jakaby Thanks this. -
Thanks, Plymak. I'm looking forward to getting up there this coming Monday. I didn't get my bus ticket today, but I'm sure it will be here by Friday. I guess I will be leaving out Saturday or Sunday. Maybe I'll see ya around. Good luck to you the rest of the way as well.
