Wow, congrats whoppin. You must have been driving the whole time lol. I will try to keep the updates coming. Good luck going sole, have fun, and be safe.
Yeah I'm gonna learn as much as I can in the 240 hours. And I guess when going solo, you are right inkeper, that's when the real learning will begin. Or, at least a test of how efficient we are with the things we have learned while training.
I'm starting to question taking a week off lol. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed seeing family after being gone for four weeks. However, I have had the itch to get back in the truck since the first morning back at home. At our last day of orientation, I was kinda jealous as driver codes were read out, and fellow students learning of their mentors ETA. While they were getting ready to drive, I was getting ready to hop a Greydawg. I just received a call from Swift as I was writing this. I have a couple things to do before going out. First there is registering my Class A CDL and DOT med card with DMV. Next, I have to send an enlarged copy of my hard copy CDL front and back to Swift. I was informed I may not have to travel back to Virginia to meet up with my mentor, which will be a plus. Fingers crossed.
Making progress which is good. I've been home for two whole days because of a dental appointment and I'm ready to get back out there. I think I miss my routine most. I'm a creature of habit and being around my sister and her rotten kids has messed up my schedule enough to where I will show up unannounced next time so when I split again it won't seem like I'm trying to sneak out, which I will end up doing anyway in the very near future
The fact that the previous sentence is a run-on should tell you that I'm buried in this iPhone instead of baby-sitting two 7 year olds while their mom is out painting the town red
Ahh the sister's kids lol. I don't have the sisters kids, but I do have the sister-in-laws kids running round sometimes. They are cool kids, but yeah, full of energy. Just ready to get out there at this point. I miss driving the truck, and since I have been home the car seems to be so different. Sort of like a go-cart lol.
I know what you mean. It gets tedious just sitting around waiting for something to happen. As for the kids, Im from the old school of thought that says children should be seen and not heard. I like kids when they are old enough to get a job and quit asking for handouts, like food, clothing, shelter, an education, etc. Right now, they are both playing on their respective iPads, doing only god knows what. When me and their momma was their age, we were getting into fist-fights about who's turn it was to play Atari.
And additionally, getting chased by my old man swinging his belt like a mule strap at me for hitting my sister.
Wait until you drive the truck so long, get home and get in your car, and start to back up like you have a trailer behind you, and you take a corner like you have 53' of trailer behind you. You will probably also notice that after being in the truck, that when you do get home, you will start to drive your car different.
Yeah I noticed that with the guy that picked us up in the morning in the the Swift van. I assume he must have driven a truck before, because every time we would make a turn he was swinging wide.
