True, the great big ones are up there in refrigerator money. Well because they are refrigerators. The 18 qt models I have were about $320, similar to the link on the updated model. I saw the bigger ones at the Louisville truck show, but passed since I needed something more portable. Someone that leaves it in the truck, or only carries it out every few weeks, the big ones might work better.

The price is rather steep for those dometics, however they seem perfect for trucking. And if they hold up as advertised, then worth the investment.

Key point. Trucking is hard on gear as we all know how rough trucks ride. I don't mind dropping the money but I don't want to do it every year.

They hold up well in trucks, they use the same system as Engel and are a little cheaper. Engel units are used in very harsh conditions.

I think if you are going to do this right, stop wasting time getting ice, draining it, having your stuff soaked with water and worrying about even finding ice, just get a Dometric or Engel and be done with the problems.

I have the dometic and love it. Catch me in the terminal sometime and I'll show it to you.

Do you have enough space under your bed to fit a real refrigirator?
If so,you could mount it on heavy duty rails to slide from under the bed.

No I don't. The Mack does not have that space under the bed anyway.
