I can't stand the communist NE is what I can't stand! Are all trucking companies so beholden to Jews that they can't see past I-95 north of Richmond?
You know what we really need?

I don't like it up there either...but thats where the majority of the freight is (and where a large part of the rest of it is headed)
Just look at the population density...thats the reason. -
There are plenty of major cities other than NYC and BOSTON and Newark! BS! I been all over this nation and I know that much! Granted, the heaviest population is in the NE (just look at any map of the US at night and the light signature) but I'll go to Chicago or L.A. but these sob's always gotta throw 95 on me! WTF! Is there no freight off the rail runnin' west of I-77?
-
Its not BS...you're missing the point.
A full 95% of us cut our teeth in the NE...thats just the way it is.
Hell, I can do you one better...my first few years I thought I was a Canadian. The NE sux, but crossing that border time after time is the most aggravating thing I've ever done...paperwork, phone calls...the it got better (or worse?) paperwork, faxes, and phone calls.
And I can tell you one thing...gun loving, redneck, hillbilly brawlers such as myself DO NOT fit in well in Canada
Traffic...you ain't seen traffic until you've been in Montreal or Toronto during rush hour.
I used to hate Chicago...well I still do, but I know my way around it so well these days I feel sorta at home up there.
I think I understand what you're getting at though...if the company you're with isn't a "good fit" for you...move on.
If you've been there those 2 years it is time...and it won't hurt your work history any. -
I'm serious man! I can't find anyone outside of local food service that will run me like I want. It's ridiculous! It's as if the NE has a monopoly on trucking co's east of the Mississippi! If any of you guys can help me get a job I'd appreciate it! Do I have to move to the west coast to avoid 95 north of Richmond, VA without having to do hard labor? I kinda like OTR.
-
Where you live is part of whats keeping you over that way...sad fact.
That is the "logistics" you mentioned earlier. -
So moving is my only real option? Or winning the lottery and owning my own truck outright? lol
-
Moving is an option...but even then, a lot of freight still goes to the NE.
I spent most of last week up there myself. -
Man life's a ##### because I love trucking for the most part, I just can't stand a relatively small portion of the nation (geographically speaking) so much that I quit over it. And you wanna know the kicker? It's not so much the area as it is the fact that they always seemed to run me there right from the house!
It's not so bad coming in from the NW but I literally cannot stand 95 running from home. Call me crazy (you wouldn't be the only one) but I'm just weird like that. ######! Guess I'll have to just man up and do some labor. Or move. -
Hey man...I know EXACTLY how you feel.
I quit over it to a long time ago...well, I tried to quit anyway.
I put in my notice, ran my 2 weeks out...and when I was cleaning out my truck my phone rang. They moved me to another division to keep me from quitting...but since my wife had already drove the nearly 300 miles to come get me, I told them I'd see them in a week...and we went to Myrtle Beach for a week.
Then began what I still consider to be the best chapter of my trucking career...running the pacific northwest. (sadly, that chapter ended after 2 years...but it was AWESOME while it lasted)
