    This comment is not accurate across all of trucking. I am also NOT talking about "just" owner operators either.

    I think Chinatown's just saying things gets dicey in insurance battles after an accident, which make sense. I don’t really know how all that works, but that would be depressing if insurance didn’t actually insure you against large amounts of risk

    Interesting tidbit about this filing. ALL tax payers are required to file a Form 941 every 3 months! Employers used to be able to pay this at a bank or use a check. Not sure how it is done today!

    There were two times in my career I worked as a 1099 driver. Both times the man I worked for had me covered by his insurance as well as providing all my legals. I did not need health insurance because I had the VA. I did however not have unemployment insurance or disability. One reason i got out of that.

    When you say covered by his insurance, you mean that your name was on the insurance??

    Plenty of 1099 companies in Chicago that will hire you. Look on Craigslist.

    @Moose1958
    *i mean the insurance which is the required minimum to legally drive. In my original post I asked what would happen if I wasn’t the one insured but it was on someone else’s name. I’m pretty scared to break the law, I was just wondering what would happen and how it works.

    I wasn’t trying to call you a liar, I’m being sincere with my questions.

    Of course not. It was fleet insurance. Fleet insurance does not have the drivers names on the cards. When I was hired they sent my information to the insurance carrier. Your getting very close to calling me a liar! I suggest you think long and hard before your next comment!

    When starting out in trucking, in this day and age, you need to get a school that will give you the 160 hrs needed by many trucking companies. You're focused on getting money and that's good but you gotta get experience. Even 1099 outfits still want experienced drivers. I think you need to start over, see about a school or company paid training. You have to practice, and get lots of it. Stay with someone for a year, and keep your license clean and then you'll have a lot of options. Dont worry about the money. It'll take of itself if your patient
