I took these pics last Feb. just for you @cnsper In the pic of the right side, the box tubing at the rear has an air ram inside, similar to a ram on a bottom dump. There is another ram in front of the forward axles under the deck. Each of the rails between the tires slide outward 9" (18" total) to a width of 10' with the flip of a valve that is on the left side of the trailer just inside the main rail about where the chain is. (2) 23K axles per rail. This Murray is rated at 47 tons and weighs in under 13K. Last I was aware of, CA, NV,AZ,NM & TX were the only states that recognize this 16 tire group. 60K allowed on this 5'9" spread at 10' wide. 54K at 8'6". Loading a D-8 over the back, the inside of the left track lines up with the inside edge of the 3rd tire from the left, putting the center of the track almost centered over the rail. @noluck would have noluck with this unit in the SE. lol Also it must be expanded while empty. Cozad & Rackley and a few others are about the same.

They used to don't know about now. There's no way that 50 ton Etnyre weighs 15,000#, one of our local construction companies runs all Etnyre's, my buddy got a new 45 ton, 53' enclosed rear 110" swing clearance paver special and it weighs a little over 18,000. An open rear would be lighter but a 50 ton would still have more steel in it. I would have to see it to believe it.noluck Thanks this.

So you flip the switch to extend or retract then pull up some to make it expand?snowman_w900 Thanks this.

Yeah. Murrays expanded the best, just a few bumps & out it goes. My jeep would spread sittin still in the dirt! Some Cozads had to be PULLED apart !PeteyFixAll, snowman_w900 and johndeere4020 Thank this.

Interesting. You should write a book I would buy it. I find most everything you post interesting, you have the thing I long for that can't be bought. Experience, if the chance ever presents itself I'll buy you what ever you want to drink and eat just to pick your brain.Last edited: Nov 23, 2016
