Agree ! it's the most damaging for engine recycling abrasive carbon back through engine moving parts. The egr valve malfunction, leaking coolers, sensors, plugged venturi caused most of the problems i had over past 14 years.

Do you think the gains are mostly as a result of the tuning? A lot of manufacturers seem to be pretty safe with their stock tuning, if that's what you're comparing it to. I feel like the efficiency loss from EGR is really closer to 5-10%. It's really hard to pinpoint a good figure, considering the lack of controlled environment testing and variables from one source to the next.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

That's possible, but I'm still running stock power because IMHO that's plenty.

I also think that an increase in DEF dosing introduces the potential issue of crystals building up faster in the exhaust. If you combine that with the idea that we shouldn't spray diesel into the exhaust to raise the temperatures, they might have to be removed mechanically if they block the exhaust.
Plus those SCR boxes are the most expensive component in the system, and I don't think people have much luck with cleaning them. Putting double duty on them sounds like they're going to fail quicker.petefan4000 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
