Good point on loaded and empty miles in fuel cpm!
My figures above are ALL miles BTW. I write my odometer mileage down when fueling, and that is the figure entered into the bookwork.

everybody figures it differently, so whatever the number is, is only relevent to that person.
One quick example it some people base it on their truck payment. Is that the right way to do it, or should you base it more on what you are going to need per mile over time to buy your next truck and the next one after that ? replacement cost/depreciation.
If you run over a piece of steel on the road tomorrow and have to replace four tires was that factored into your cost per mile beforehand or do you add it on after the fact ?
Do I charge myself the same for all miles or more for 48k loads than deadheading ?
Another persons number doesn't mean a thing to anyone else except that person unless you know what they include and what they don't. We each have to have a number for our own purpose or some other way to figure it. Personally, I plug all my expenses into a spreadsheet and it calculates and adjusts with every entry. Does my thinking for me and let's me know if my cpm is going up or down. But it is still partly based on some pretty crude estimating as far as how much I will need over the next 10 years for equipment purchases and repairs.Twicebit, rollin coal, MZdanowicz and 1 other person Thank this. -

There are a lot more companies hiring from that area than CRE...Especially if you are going in as a team... Try Con-Way TL... USXpress, Schnider, CFI,FFE,PAM,USA... My bet is they all hire out of Ill...
Anyone but CRE -

Don't forget taxes, depreciation, and replacement costs for equipment.

With fuel surcharges, my cost per mile for fuel averages around .29 to .30 per mile. Maintenance fund takes .06 per mile. The real variable is my lease payment. The more miles I run, the less per mile it costs, and vice versa. My lease will take .18 per mile for this upcoming pay period, but last one was around .25 per mile as I had less miles. 5200 vs 6900 for a two week period.
