Must be a local phase for New York, I've been a 10% er, worked on a casual board for Road Way on my day off from hauling groceries 5 days a week, but never heard of a shape up board and I joined the Teamster in 1969.

At our place if your not on a bid then your on "the shape" at 8 am. If they walk guys it goes by seniority and the bottom guy (or guys) has to fill in for vacations on different bids if no one signs up for them for the week.

My bil is a longshoreman and they also say "shape" I was always curious what the meaning behind it was

dont be jealous bro... If you ever come to NY I'll have her make you one, but with EXTRA spit.

now I saw another post about YRC and they declined the contract extension. And I have referred Nightwind to them but now some guys are worried about the doors closing. So beware if you stil want to apply.

Shape boards are popular in the NJ and NY areas. I worked in Philly for roadway and never did it. But Trenton and mt holly nj ran a shape board.

Not sure if ABF does the shape, but I know YRC for the city does it. I was on it when I was doing P/D

You know what is so great about this thread. No one is complaining ( OP :) ) about going off topic and we are comparing LTL shops.
ABF is a good place to work (my former employer ) . Someone mentioned we are all "friends" which is true in a small world way. We help each other out and spot former co-workers on the job. It's a small LTL world and we are all brothers and sisters. It's hard to dislike someone . We all experience the crap and get paid well to do it lol
