Thx for your input , i own and drive a 10 speed with 455 hp now and the fuel mileage has been terrible (6.4mpg ) since i idle all the time .what do you get as far as mpg on your d13 500 hp ? So you think i am better off getting an oshift with 425 xe package then if i want better fuel economy ?

The 500 used to get 6.5 from colorado to california. Running east coast gets 6.6-6.7 cruise at 67 (limited at 70) and Idling for A/C. The 425 limited at 85 was at 6.3, at 70mph gets 6.7 and now with apu gets 7.0.

I like the 500 more, the fuel difference is not much but the truck feels like it doesn’t struggle as much.

I have a 15' 780 D13 with iShift. It came with 425/1550 and got about 8 mpg. I had it turned up to 500/1750 and had the ishift set to 'progressive shifting' and it made a big difference. MUCH better on hills. Before it would not downshift on hills until it dropped to 10k RPM on the nose and I was always losing too much momentum. A lot better with the upgrade and I don't see a difference in fuel economy. I get 7-8 pulling as light of loads as I can find and I drive 70+ if that's the speed limit. I have an APU and try not to idle.

The truck had a carrier comfort pro (I think 6022, and older model) needed some work, spent about $1200 on new generator and did a tune up and runs great. I was considering an electric (chil-e) for the other truck since I don’t want to give up the big fuel tanks.

Sounds great ,how did you get the ishift set up that way ? So it is much better than holding gears .so if i understood well ,you had it set up the same way the old automatic transmission was .like 07 08 ?

Do not spend money on an electric apu. They're as good as having nothing. Find a way to retrofit it with the big tanks or downsize, it is worth it.

Carrier is louder, shakes more etc but works.

Thermoking is quieter and you don't feel it.

I guess it would come to price.

I run a 2016 Volvo with the D13 and iShift... I run from the Rockies to the Mid-west and back every week. East bound I'm always 79k+, west bound I'm anywhere from 66k to 80k. I get about 7.3 mpg, and I idle almost all the time... Sometimes this truck doesn't shut off for 7 days when it is really hot weather.
