If all you're going to do is run south all the time it'll take 3-4 days just to hit the break even mark. Then go home, rinse repeat

Exactly, I absolutely hate running the area i run... But its the only way to make the money i want without running myself into the ground. Gotta work smart not hard

Thats right, id rather work 5 days doing sucky loads than work 7 days with easy loads

Hey I'm a rookie driver, I'm torn really lookin at prime to go ic. Do they call the lease drivers ic? Have about 6months experience m any advice.

I like getting out of the truck and shooting with backgrounds that look nice and show off the countryside. In the winter time, it's too #### cold for this Florida man! Those that watch my YouTube channel learn fast that I focus on usable information that is not over-reaching my knowledge base. I only share what I have learned first hand or what has been verified by others. When I changed careers, there was very little QUALITY information for 'green-beans' or for first-time lease operators out here. I come from a broadcasting background, so I aim to fix that issue!

Now... To the topic of referral bonus:

It's no secret that Prime pays $200 for a non-CDL carrying referral and $250 for someone who joins Prime with an existing CDL. It's right on the company's main website. Where people are getting $2k is pure fiction. I'd LOVE to make $2k a referral! Hell... I'd quit driving and produce videos all day at that rate!

Does my channel generate referrals? Yes it does. But not as many as you'd think. Maybe 3 or 4 a month. Of those, only 3 actually show up and of those... MAYBE 2 stay and make a driving a career of it. But during this process, I actively engage the person and share my personal cell phone number. I invite them to 'Friend' me on Facebook so they have access to unfiltered information that most recruiters are to busy to share with them. I work for that referral.

We all know that the professional recruiters sitting behind a desk have a financial interest in sharing all the roses, rainbows, and unicorns about "Why people should work for Company-X". A Pro-Recruiter's job is a numbers game. Answer as many questions as someone has, as fast as possible, and get them on a bus. Each Prime recruiter is plowing through 40-50 applications PER DAY! The more per day they can do, the more money they make as a pro-recruiter. They don't have time to slow down and fill in all the missing information a 'green-bean' has in his head. They can only answer questions that the 'green-bean' asks.

Most people have common sense and understand this, so they question the information a pro-recruiter is giving them. Compounding the problem is that most 'green-beans' don't know what to ask on the phone! How can they?! It's a catch-22 for them. How can they ask an intelligent question of the pro-recruiter when they know nothing about our industry?

Their questions come over time. Lots of time. As they do their homework online, searching the internet, watching videos... They start to have questions that are good questions. They slowly learn what they should have been asking their recruiter but never had the chance to.

This is where I come in....

I am there to answer questions that eventually come up over a period of weeks and months after someone has had that initial contact with their recruiter on the phone. I'm there for them during orientation and training when they can't get a straight answer from the company or their trainer. Anytime the "B.S." alarm goes off in their head, I get the phone call. This is what I do to earn that referral. The real work comes AFTER they've seen the video. After they have applied to Prime.

Over the last 3-years, I've always helped people who have reached out to me after having watched one of my videos. I've spent countless hours on the phone and on the keyboard helping and answering questions. Taking the time to assist others through the transition of changing careers. I've met a lot of great people with big hearts and big dreams. Very interesting people indeed. Wanna know something crazy? Even after the hours on the phone answering their questions, helping them past the fear, helping them build a plan to make the change, rebuilding their confidence in themselves... Most did not even mention my name on their applications. That referral line was left blank. Void. Nothing put on it. Blank-O-El-Blank. And you know why? ... Because I never asked them for it before they filled out their application. Something so simple and so stupid on my part.

I'd run into my El-Blanko referrals eventually, or they would call from the road on their trainer's truck to thank me for all the help and I'd then ask, "Who did you put down on the referral line?" 95% of the time their answer was, "I think I left that blank. I didn't know anybody who worked for Prime." ... In my head I would be screaming, "WHAT!!! I WORK FOR PRIME DUMMY!! ... The other 5% usually would fumble out an answer to cover their embarrassment that they left it blank. Some would lie and say they dropped my name, but a follow up call to the recruitment department would verify that it was left blank. No biggie. The satisfaction of knowing that I helped someone avoid the disaster of going to Stevens Transport was enough. But still ... That was $200 bucks left on the table.

It's only been in the past six or eight months that I've started to add a 1-800 number to the tail end of my Tuesday release videos and asking folks to drop my name on the referral line. And why shouldn't I do that? Why not capitalize on what would be a blank line anyway? I'm doing the work on the phone, FaceBook, and Skype. I'm reducing the work load that a pro-recruiter would have to do. Why not take the bonus for work being done?

It's not a big referral bonus to begin with any way. When I do meet my referrals face to face, I take time to drag them to the local steakhouse to tell them, "Thank You" for the referral and buy them a steak dinner. (There's $100 bucks spent of a $200 referral) That's when the conversation then starts turning to "Hey... Should I be looking at the lease program?" and the information process starts all over again. Except this time.... There is no bonus from Prime.

So don't be thinking that my referral process is simply a numbers game. Something to hook'em and get'em in the door. There's a lot of work and hand holding that goes on for months after someone watches my channel and submits and application.

Do I do it for the money? The $200 is nice, but I get more satisfaction knowing that I've helped someone through the process and reduced the bumps along the way for them. Helped them, and their family members, by showing them the door to a new career.

$2,000 per referral... I ##### wish!

I would wait to go IC if you only have 6mos no offence but you don't know the ups and downs of trucking yet, you have a lot to learn still hell I have been in the industry over 20 years and I am still learning. I would say give it at least a year before you make the jump and ask every question you think of.

What is this dedicated target you speak of? Ive got only six months driving. Sni says I need a year to go dedicated but six months ic.
