The government/tax payers bailed them out once, don’t be surprised if they do it again. Yellow and the other carriers under their umbrella should have been gone about 15 years ago.

They've been saying that for 20 years. Still ain't gone yet. The government won't let them go down.

Corruption, treating on company different than the others. Taxpayer money shouldn’t keep a company afloat. I would also speculate the teamsters have a role in their demise. You can’t just artificially come up with money that doesn’t exist to pay for all the benefits and goodies they want.

I expect they will fold up and be sold to a new holding company in order to break the Teamsters. I don't even think they want a bailout.

It also could just me negotiation tactics and they'll extract some concessions and move on.

Actually my thinking is 180 degrees in the other direction. I think after they do some dealing with all the debt, UPS will buy them like they bought Overnight which was another train wreck of a company. They pulled out of the Teamsters pension fund a long time ago and put their own thing in place. They dont fear union workers, and they will need the drivers. I mean the freight is going to go SOMEWHERE, its not going to just disappear...

And that could very well be part of the reason the talks are going into overtime, both sides see this coming and they want "their" contract in place when it does.

That same scenario happens about every 10 years or so.

Maybe 90 degrees. Either way, you and I think they are going away in their current form. 180 degrees is they sign a contract and press on in their current form. :D
