Jackson used to be a much bigger terminal than it is now. I know a guy that worked there for a few years and loved it. Don't really know much about the runs they have. I've worked for YRC for 11 years. It's been good and bad. The pay and benefits keep me here. I'll try to post a picture of the current wages. Remember it takes 3 years to reach full pay. Your first year will be the worst. You'll start out on the extra board and will have absolutely no life but if you can make it thru that year you will like the job. Freight hauling is not for everyone. You will work all 3 shifts in some weeks and is very difficult to learn when to sleep

Congrats man. Line drive is definitely easier than LTL and pays more so you should be ok there

Thanks bud. I think it will be a good job. Is hooking up doubles pretty easy to learn I don't have any experience with doubles.

The best thing to do with doubles is find a routine and stick with it. Don't try to muscle the dolly. Use the pintle hook on the truck to move it

Thank you for the tip. Are the benefits pretty good. I'm guessing once I start I will be with a trainer for a few days is that how they do it.

Driving doubles is easier than pulling a 53' footer. Took me a couple of days to feel comfortable on the road. Just make sure you double triple check all connections, air lines, pintle hook, fifth wheel, landing gears, etc... I have made it a habit of walking around the trailers at least twice to be certain I'm good to go and I'm not forgetting anything

    skinnytrucker Thanks this.
