I got offered a spot at YRC straight out of school and decided to go to Sodrel. I still have YRC calling me asking me if I want to go work for them and I'm thinking about going. We had one guy here at Sodrel that left to go there that was in the same CDL class as me. As far as sleeping in a hotel every night, that's not neccesarily true. You can ask to do turns every day which will you get out and back home every night.

I would be worried about my pension with YRC, I think they declare bankruptcy every other week. Yellow has the worst equipment on the road they must have some good mechanics to keep those old pos tractors and trailers running
-
I heard now that a lot of new guys that are hired by YRC for linehaul get forced to run team if there isn't a solo run available... I would hire for them as a city driver if I were you.

The trucks at YRC are a hell of a lot newer than the ones I drive at Sodrel. If i get a truck that has less than 2 million miles or is newer than 1998, I know it's gonna be a good day.
I don't want to do city driving though, and here in Indy, they don't do team from what I understand. Their trucks don't even have a passenger seat in them except for the ones they use for training.HorseShoe Thanks this. -
I don't see what the good part is, staying in trucker motels. If I'm going to stay in one, I want to be the one to pick it. I'd rather spend the time in my own sleeper berth than to have to sleep in some of these flea bags that some companies use.
Not saying that YRC is one of those companies, just a general observation.Chewy352 Thanks this. -
Most of the guys I have talked to say they stay in decent hotels...
Big Don Thanks this. -
That's only if you choose to. I have a friend who's been working there for a little over a month now and he's getting home every day because he always asks for turns. He's only stayed in a hotel twice so far.

YRC is hiring a lot of recent grads. When I was in school to get my CDL a few months ago, they had a recruiter come in and talk to us. Stupid me, I went some where else, but I talked to them recently and said if I want a job there, I got it. I just have to get my haz mat first. Have my other 2 endorsements. -
