The week off will do you good.

As for not wanting to pull reefer, I agree.

I think a company driver will work MORE UNPAID hours pulling reefers (all other factors being equal). Wash outs, live load, live unload, etc. Dry van's have the live load/unload as well but you tend to get more drop/hooks and you don't have to deal with wash outs - which can take up significant unpaid time (even if you are reimbursed for the wash).

And yes, get the hazmat. If your next job pays an extra cent for all miles with the endorsement, and you drive 100k miles in a year, that's an extra 1k before taxes. So the $200 or whatever it costs now days is a small investment.

    G13Tomcat and Boattlebot Thank this.

Normally I'm against lease purchase, but when I was st Malone as an o/o, I participated in their monthly conference call, guys were paying off their trucks. No company drivers to compete, and some o/os had really nice trucks, and the rates are pretty good. Their operating area is a little west and south of you, but if you don't mind staying out, it might be the change you want. Flatbed, mostly coils.

Both. You don't need flatbed experience either. They run the box. Ohio-PA state line down south to FL state line, west to I35, but try to avoid TX. North up to WI, IL and MI.
