Yeah, I'm a bit rusty, but I'm getting it all worked out now. Our group is doing well and will end up with free days on the last few days. So, we'll just have to sit and wait for our Phase 1 after Monday. Luckily, I'm about an hour away from my house, so I'm going to get out of the hotel for a bit and see my family before hitting the road.
Zero tuition for 6 month commitment? Anyone recently done this?

We have to do a week and a half "refresher" then "training".
-
I'm in for the Free training, 6 month commitment deal. Currently on a bus in Little Rock on my way to Waxahachie for the course.
Let me start by saying that while the tickets are free, the busses suck. I'm sure its normal with greyhound, but my back, my knees, my arms, are all killing me right now.
I should be getting set up with my hotel room tomorrow. I have yet to see them obviously but ky understanding is that they aren't in rundown motels.
I will try to post updates to this as I go but no guarantees. -
They use 3 different places. I don't think the 2 motels are very nice. I think the comfort inn hotel is better.
Everyone complains about the bus rides in.
It will be a pain going through the training.
Look for me with the CDL "refresher" guys and 1 woman (14 of us) out front doing alley docks. I guess we will be done on Wednesday. We all wear name tages and I wear a Utah Jazz hat when the sun is shining.
Just suffer through the 1st day of paperwork. I am glad I am done with that part. -
Yeah I'm at the "motel" now.
Wow. It's just... Wow.
Amazingly the water tastes like mold. I don't know how they do it but it does. The bed is a bed and its not moving so I count my blessings there. Tired of waking up after 30 minutes if sleep with my face plastered to the window when the bus driver hits a hole.
Interestingly, if you go on Google maps for thus location you can see reviews from before it became American what-ever what-ever. If I wasnt staying here they would be pretty funny.
But aside from that its free. I can't complain about that. If I was paying I would make a bigger stink about it, but I'm not. And from a business perspective I see how having this place under company control is useful.
My advise, nut up or shut up.
If you aren't paying and aren't obligated to live there forever it isn't that bad. Remember, it could always be worse -
6 months commitment for refresher don't sound bad considering what the other big companies want for commitment. i hope y'all do well
JCB & Associates Thanks this. -
Was anyone else told by their recruiter that after 4-30-12, they wouldn't be taking any more out of state students? I feel it was a ploy to try to get me to make a commitment right away.
With everything I have read, I think I am going to wait and see if I can get in somewhere else first.
Good luck to all going now. -

Thanks Dewey, that's what I felt too, I'm still going to see if I can get on with a different company. I'll keep CR as a last resort

They thought the rule went into effect a couple of weeks ago, so my wife's class had only in-state students for the CDL and others who already had their CDL.
