My regulator was leaking air so back in 2015 I changed it for a new one $450 cdn. I got it from “The Gear Centre” MISSISSAUGA (Toronto Ont) branch 1 (905) 564-8998. They are the Canadian zf freedomline service and parts dealer. They can provide every part needed up to and including a replacement Gear box. Back in 2016 a replacement was $8000cdn which included new clutch, tcu and i think the voltage doubler. They offer phone support.
Bur, beside your air regulator leaking, have you had any other major problems with this transmission? I'm looking at buying a 780 Vcar with the ZF 12 speed & a Cummins engine. The engine has been overhauled by a Volvo dealer with 360,000 on it since. Anything else you can tell me about the ZF would be extremely useful. Thanks in advance.
If anyone else can give me a heads up on this ZF 12 speed one pedal tranny, I would GREATLY appreciate it. As an o/op, I'm trying to do what's best for my business. I've had a few setbacks, so I really don't need a truck with an iffy transmission. I've read many post here & abroad about this the ZF & most have been about the electrical problems. I'm scared to buy this truck now, even though it has had an inframe done buy a respectable Volvo dealer.
I had one on 2005 Volvo and only single problem i had it was a fuse on top of battery. I had with d12 engine from 960,000 miles to over 1,300,000. When i got the truck i took off all connectors and made sure they were clean, and i put some electric grease in them. The voltage doubler on top of transmission i took some silicone and vent over the connectors so the moisture don't get inside. Transmission is very sensitive to air pressure so you better have leak free as much as possible. Not a lot of people know how to work on it and limited parts are available. Parts are very expensive and dealers will try to sell you every thing.
I have driven a volvo and international with this transmission. When the transmission functions correct it is one of the smoothest very nice shifting transmission similar to I shift. The main problem is not many shops no how to diagnose and fix problems. Here in the US ZF does offer tech support via phone. Is the truck being sold by a dealer or private individual with service history?
