Honest review here from an actual driver and not an office person, pretending to be one. There are worse places to work, and there are a few good people here who seem to care. Now for the truth, they make you sign agreements in the beginning that you won’t disparage the company. So if you’re wondering why there are many bad reviews, that’s why. They also make you sign a noncompete clause. They advertise no slip seating, but you can expect other people to use your truck when you’re not using it. They also claim no forced dispatch, which has only a shred of truth to it. In reality, you will likely be offered one run that obviously no one would want an a second run that they want you to take. Also, that only applies to your outbound and not your backhaul. All backhauls are forced dispatch. You can expect to be home on the weekends, but you can’t expect to make any plans because you will never know when you are getting home. They do have a shop that maintains the vehicles and they do a decent job of maintenance. However, they do a very poor job of talking to drivers. You can expect to be treated poorly and rudely by the shop and the shop is also in charge of assigning vehicles, and they frequently assign vehicles that are very dirty, disgusting.
Pros
Weekend home time
A few good people.
Driver appreciation month
Most trucks less than five years old
Decent miles
Cons
Low pay per mile.
Shoppers hard to work with
Back holes with no concern for Driver.
Deceptive slip seating.
Unfriendly dispatch.

Latest model trucks and trailers that are well maintained. Trucks are set up for the drivers comfort as full condo's, very comfortable beds, inverter, auxiliary power unit, refrigerator with freezer. No forced dispatch and no forced routing. Fuel card for any Pilot/Flying-J (except 3 in PA) with driver desecration where and when to fuel. Good for bonus, extra for NY City, picking up equipment in the truck, extra stops, lay over, detention.
The company has a close family feeling. They work with the drivers needs for getting home, medical needs, etc. They allow for pets on board and for passengers. They have good medical insurance options. The manager really do listen to the drivers and work with their needs.
Note: I have just 2 years with ALTL, and had 6 years before with other companies but had been off the road for 8 years between those 6 and ALTL hence my start pay was higher then a newbie but not as high as one would expect for 5+ experience.
Also Note: Home Time for those that live close to the yard is very very good. Those that live out of state such as myself, it is just a little more difficult for dispatch to met home time needs.... but they do the best they can and make it work.
Pros
Freedom on the road.

Fantastic family run company. The office staff really care about the drivers and dispatch is very flexible. Most drivers make it home every weekend. Lots of out and back to the east coast. Equipment is well maintained with inverters, APU’s and refrigerators standard. No forced dispatch, no forced routing. The accessorial pay really adds up too. $200 to NYC/Long Island, extra pay for driver assist and equipment also.
Pros
Office personnel, quality equipment, consistent miles, VERY flexible hometime.
Cons
Pilot Flying J exclusive for fueling, no fuel bonus program.
