Been working at A&M for 26 months now, this is the only truck company I have worked for. I average 2,700 miles a week, mostly between Glendale, Oregon and the Los Angeles area. Average take-home paycheck is $962.00 a week (Aug 2019 to Jan 2020). My gross pay for the year 2019 was $58,672 and this includes the monthly safety/fuel bonus and my $150 a month towards school reimbursement. I rarely drive before 6am, and I rarely drive after 9pm. I think for all of 2019 I had maybe four 3am starts and maybe three times where I ended up driving until 11pm. A&M is very easy going, most of the time I am amazed that I get paid for this! Never ever have I felt like I was in a rush, like I said it's very easy going here. I have read reviews from other drivers for other companies and I just don't understand why they would deal with all the ugliness that they receive! 100% no touch freight, unless you want to count opening/closing the doors and adding some straps. Just FYI we do have a curtain van fleet and a flatbed fleet, but you will only be driving this if you request it. A good percentage of what I do is drop and hook, and most of this happens at the yard in Glendale, Oregon. 70% of the time I head down towards Los Angeles, make a delivery, pick up a new load in the Los Angeles area, bring it to the yard in Glendale, and pick up another trailer and head back south for another delivery. We do a ton of dedicated freight, mostly for Harbor Freight Tools, so most of the time when in Los Angeles I just head on over to the Harbor Freight Warehouse in Moreno Valley and drop off an empty trailer and pick up a loaded trailer (turn around time is 30 to 40 minutes). Some of the Harbor Freight locations that we delivery to already have an empty trailer standing by, so again it's another fast turn around. I can tell you that I know every great parking spot along the California section of the I-5, and I also know the locations of all massive potholes on the I-5 as well. It's a rarity that I park at truck stops, and not one time have I ever paid for a parking spot. Almost never have I had any problem with breakdown pay or layover pay. I did have one occasion where I felt I should have been paid $150 for delivering another load for another driver, but that is my only complaint about pay. I have had a few small errors on my paycheck but a simple e-mail fixed the issue every time. WONDERFUL DISPATCHERS! ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL! Yes, I have had some problems a few times, but nothing to complain about. The guys we have at the shop are seriously top notch! No issues with them at all. They have fixed every problem that I have reported, sometimes with record speed! I don't have a home, I live in my semi, but because of this I have taken multiple 34 hour restarts in San Francisco, Los Angeles area, Yosemite National Park,, Santa Cruz, Las Vegas and a dozen other locations that I have enjoyed checking out. The dispatchers have always given me any request that I have asked for, and I don't know of any time where they said no. As for the regular "I have a home" drivers they all get back home every week and take a 34 hour restart at home. Equipment is fantastic! Tons of new trailers and a long list of new trucks. My first truck was a bit of an issue and a bit old, but this was of course my first truck. After a few months they eventually gave me another truck, I don't remember much about that one, but it was better. After 18 months or so they tossed me a new semi with only 14 miles on it, a super nice rig with no issues, plus it's an automatic (A&M is going with full automatic). Don't know much about the benefits package but I have had a few friends outside the company who told me that what I have is VERY good! I pay $8.50 a week for dental and $7.50 a week for health and $0 for vision. I will say I have seen my primary doctor a few times and never paid anything out of pocket. All in all I have no complaints about working here and I love the fact the I started my career here. Best job I have ever had! Easiest job I have ever had! The best family environment for any place that I have worked at! I am SUPER comfortable working here! BTW my name is Wayland Rumble, and I am of course a truck driver for A&M. Please mention my name if you come on over.

Pros

family environment. Great equipment. Knowledgeable dispatchers. Shop mechanics are fast and accurate.

Cons

nothing. I guess some Wi-Fi at the yard would be nice, but that is the only con I can think about.
