Just left the company and would like to add my experience after 2 years at gt express Started the job with an open mind.Flew into the kankakee yard. You then check into a nearby hotel. Start of orientation a few truck drivers quit and paraded the yard saying how bad the company is even going as far as saying they were getting money taken out of their checks. One driver showed me his last check and it was in the negative with it around -150.00. So he ended up oweing the company money. That made me have second thoughts. But since I was flown out and found out I would have to find my own way back home if I didn't take the job, I decided to just try it out. So once you're in orientation you 1st take a urine drug test and watch some videos about securement safety and other safety stuff. You sign the contract at the end.Afterwards go on a road test for about 3 miles to see if you can drive. I needed a trainer to help me learn load securement. Trainer came and picked me up. Long story on that is they partner you up with a so called trainer but honestly never really taught me much and used me for the driving miles. Got back to the yard and got my own truck and trailer. I'll now point out my thoughts after 2.5 years of driving for this company. 1. Eric the VP is rude most of the time as others have pointed out. Will throw insults at you and will treat you as a nuisance if you ask too many questions. 2. Read your contract they can take funds from you for any means. You pay for all damage and all freight claims. You also pay for hotel and airplane ticket and food for orientation as a 6 month deduction. So if you leave before 6 months you'll be obligated to repay them for those items. Also there is an escrow of 2000 that they take from your check around 250 a week. There is also a 247 deduction a month for work occupational insurance. 3. Please before you take your truck and trailer from the yard. Go over it thoroughly. Video document everything wrong with it so if they say anything when you leave the company they can't hold it against you and try to take your escrow. 4. There is a policy we're a good inspection will give you 100 but if you get a bad inspection you will owe the company 300. If you get 3 bad inspections termination. 5. I've had decent dispatchers but alot of times the money they say you can make rarely occurs. I remember the recruiter saying an average of 1600-2500. A week. I'll tell you I work 3 months on and 1 week off for a year busting my butt to get as much as I could and only grossed 60k for the year. 6. This is a 1099 employee. You have to take out you're own taxes and such deductions. Going back to my yearly I netted 48k after taxes and deductions. So if I average that as hourly barely 24 an hour lmao. Don't buy anything for your truck unless you talk to Eric. Otherwise you will not be reimbursed. There 7. Right now my current set up is a stepdeck with ramps. And it's hard finding loads. Didn't know this company had bad csa scores and was limited to some loadboards. 8. I guess I got to be able to see the country. But still hurts that you make very little. They say no forced dispatch but you always get your dispatcher calling you about trying to get this load because it was the only one they can find. From my experience my 1st load was in the heart of Chicago and I just got out of driving school. Also truck driver turnover rate is atrocious. Every week they hire 15-20people 9. You pay for mistakes all the way. Okay now my final say is this job isn't for new drivers going into the flatbed field or coming out of school. You pay for any damages. Both freight and truck/trailer. I had claims I didn't even know about coming out of my check. Like 350 for one that a driver hit my load while I was parked. I had a light scrape on the truck and boom 2500 deductible I had to pay for that they took 500 from each check. Funny thing is they just took off the panel and didn't replace it. So basically just got 2500 for free. Since they filed it as an insurance claim when I was looking for another job they said it was on my record. This is when I had enough and decided to part ways. Remember this do not abandon the truck you have to go to the kankakee yard only. If you go to any other yard . Theyll put truck abandonment on your dac

I did not get paid.Neither did several other drivers I know of. Some trucks are getting repossessed. If they can't make a truck payment then they for sure can't make their payroll. I wish someone told me this before I went there and wasted 2 months. Very crooked manager out of Kankakee office. I just do not want any of you to get ripped off too. Take care out there and stay safe my friends.

Pros

They hire anyone. If you have a bad record or just need experience.

Cons

They did not pay me and several other drivers.
