Everything has gone downhill since the new ceo changed things up. Everytime they have a town hall meeting it's just a ##### out session to all drivers. They micromanage your speed,

Pros

Good at roadside service response.

Cons

They get pissed if you put in for home time.

Prepare to be swindled. Your paid detention is usually less than the amount you have calculated on your driver report forms. They want to see if they can get away with shorting you first and see if you catch it. If you catch it and let them know you been short changed it's still an uphill battle to get your money.

Pros

They are good with roadside service response.

Cons

They'll keep you in an endless cycle of northeast and Appalachian loads where the speed limit is 50mph and mountains and higher costs of goods and services and conjestion.

Very confusing company to work for unless you get on a dedicated account because there are just as many exceptions as there are rules here, and no two resources will give you the same answer to about 90% of your questions. Virtually no driver support. No I.T. professionals, no mechanics of value.

Pros

The mileage pay is good if you get miles and spend 2 hrs of your 10 every day doing all the on-line monthly training, paper work, and maintenance to free up your 70.

Cons

Their home time includes being on-call because they don't care about you having any life. They WONT tell you when you can expect to be home or for how long until late Friday. So you can't make plans. They want to micro manage any time "off". Then you are left wondering when you are expected back on your truck. The Pittsburgh terminal has very bad equipment and management that expects you to drive with constant check lights displaying, failing brake checks, and very few supplies. Trying to docu

$.72 cents per mile. $10,000 sign on bonus. My terminal is Pittsburgh, PA. I clear $1300-$1500 weekly.Home when I ask and for how long I want.

Pros

Great pay, people (including ownership on down). Also Equipment runs great and newer and technicans are helpful.

Cons

Day crew and off hour crew from driver manger and shop needs to communicate better.

I work Regional out of the Knoxville,TN terminal and the management there does a great job. You can typically expect 2100-2500 miles a week, but can get more if you want to run on weekends. Mostly Non-Hazmat out of this location but you can expect to pull a few here and there. The Regional Driver dispatcher does a great job, but I can't speak for the "system" dispatch as it is a different employee and division.

Pros

Great Pay Rate, Well Kept Equipment, Good Miles, Management that actually listens to their drivers.

Cons

Health Insurance is expensive, however they're in the process of changing that.

I've been to their Croydon terminal and talked to some of their drivers and they always seem happy, plus they have a guaranteed pay every week if you commit to being available for a certain amount of days.. I live 5 mins from Rahway, I was looking into them as well.

I have been with them for several months and so far so good. The guaranteed pay is nice, I always hated the up and down paychecks. As long as you follow their procedures you will do fine. They are very strict on that.

I am still with them and they are a decent company but I am looking to go elsewhere. I went with them looking for better home time than otr. It is getting to the point that I am having to stay in the truck most of the week. If you are close to the terminal it might not be an issue but I live an hour away so a 10 hour break doesn't allow me to go home. It wasn't like this at first but has slowly gotten worse. I am out of a different terminal and run a different account so it would be different at your terminal. The guaranteed pay is nice but you will earn every penny of it.

questions about Highway Transport Inc.

I have been with them for a couple of months. Like you I could not find much info on them. Just under 300 drivers so I guess they are not well known yet. All I can say is so far so good. If you deliver on time and follow their procedures then you will be fine. This is my first tanker job but I am enjoying it but there is a learning curve. Also make sure you do not "forget" anything on your application. I saw 1 guy sent home from orientation because he forgot a surgery he had. Everyone there has been friendly and helpful. If you have any specific questions I will try and answer them. Good Luck
