Former Employee
- Feb 3, 2026
My experience working at J&D Equipment Hauling was extremely disappointing. I was hired under a written offer as a salaried employee with a 90‑day probation period, but my pay was later changed without written notice or proper disclosure. I was reassigned from my original role to a driver position and paid a lower training rate — which I was only informed of after working multiple days. When I raised concerns, I was met with dismissive responses and pressure to sign a release of claims in exchange for partial back pay. Another employee with the same job title remained in his role and was not reassigned, which raised serious concerns about unequal treatment.
I also witnessed several professionalism issues. The owner referred to himself as “god” when talking about trucking, while commenting that one of his managers only had an elementary‑level education. I saw the owner call out employees and former employees in front of others, creating an uncomfortable and unprofessional environment. Mechanics are underpaid for the work they do, and raises as low as 25 cents were presented as standard.
On top of that, the company does not offer PTO during the first year, and they do not contribute to your 401(k) during the first year either. These policies, combined with the inconsistent communication and lack of transparency, make it very difficult for employees to feel valued or supported.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company to anyone who values transparency, fair compensation, or a respectful workplace culture.
