I’ve been working at Oak Harbor Freight Lines as a Linehaul driver for nearly two years. The pay and home time are excellent, and the company does a good job maintaining its equipment—though they certainly maximize usage before replacing it. I’ve had a great experience with the dispatchers I work with; they’re supportive and easy to communicate with. One challenge is starting out, as new drivers may struggle to get consistent runs due to overhiring to cover vacations and call-offs. My main complaint is they pay hourly for runs under 270 miles.

Pros

Competitive Pay – Good compensation, especially for longer linehaul runs. Great Home Time – Consistent opportunities to be home regularly. Well-Maintained Equipment – Trucks and trailers are kept in good condition. Supportive Dispatchers – Easy to work with and generally helpful. Job Stability – The company hires proactively to ensure freight gets moved.

Cons

High Equipment Utilization – Trucks are used to their limit before being rotated out. Difficult Start for New Hires – Overhiring can result in limited miles or inconsistent routes early on. Runs under 270 miles are paid hourly

Ohfl is a great company to drive for. Every company has a little b/s to deal with. I bit less b/s here I've noticed. Happy after 14 years.

Pros

Home every day plus weekends

Cons

Lots of newbies hard on equipment

How much does Oak Harbor pay ?!?

Their supposedly Union, but the Union contract is not ratified and who knows if the union is voted out or not? So what do they pay, I think they start somewhere in the 20s? I seen a few of their adds advertise that but who knows without a contract?
