Been employed as a driver with Reddaway for 3 mos. No real complaints 'cept I would personally like to see the same pay as the parent company (Yrc) drivers make applied to Reddaway drivers. They are a solid company and treat me decent. I like it here.

Pros

Bennies, ot, equipment, M-F.

Cons

Kinda low pay

Training was hit or miss and you were expected to pick up everything the first time (their electronic logs, routes, etc). Terminal manager was basically a salesman who would tell folks whatever he thought they wanted to hear, regardless of whether or not it was true.

Pros

Benefits, home daily

Cons

Communication, management, very long hours

I worked for Reddaway in Hendersen CO for 2 years I started doing the Beaver UT, Billings MT, Salt Lake City UT extra board. I HATED every second of doing line haul...... some guys love it. A opening came up in the city P&D I can not tell you how much I LOVED my job........ I was in the middle of the board, so I had a very nice 7 or 8 start time. I always got a Newer Volvo Well, this wasn't to last. Turns out if you really hump and produce.... the senior drivers will do everything they can to dump their work on you. So many senior drivers were and are the most useless sacks of cow flop, and the funny thing, the terminal manager loved them. The terminal manager is borderline illiterate (I'm not kidding) and this is the guy that's YOUR boss. The dispatchers were pretty decent..... I really liked the daytime dispatcher (Very Good At What He Did) Most of the trucks are JUNK. They are replacing them but slow to do so. The mechanics were GREAT We had cab overs there with almost 2 million miles on them...... and there were drivers that would run them from Colorado to Salt Lake City.... I couldn't believe people still drove these things. I think they're up to about 21.00 a hour (Overtime Over 8).. but I couldn't be sure. SO MANY People I worked with there quit or got fired. People pass through the Hendersen terminal so quickly you would see new faces every couple of weeks. They really treat Most everyone like garbage, and its a shame. They scared away or drove off so many good drivers. One of the best companies I ever worked for..... run by the worst people. Think twice before you put a app in the Hendersen Colorado terminal.

Pros

Decent money, free benefits if you are single. ALL THE OVERTIME YOU WANT A lot of paid time off like holidays and such. Some very decent co-workers

Cons

The terminal manager is ......................

Few questions about Reddaway

Some of Reddaway is union... Some isn't. Most of their trucks in the smaller terminals are hand-me-downs from the larger ones. We run 2005 Internationals. Everything is goverened at 63. Standard company size trailers are 28/29 and 48 foot trailers and liftgates. We do have 53 ft trailers and some flatbeds in our inventory (but I've never seen them on the road before). Linedriver pay is better than P&D pay in my opinion. But more likely than not, you will run more unfavourable hours (depending how you look at working nights).

As for overtime? Not a chance in hell.

I've been with the Co. 13 yrs, and YES a good company to work for but when I first started, the company was standing alone and we were SPOILED. To think that when I started, there were drivers complaining "The Co. not what it used to be" suffice it to say that if I felt spoiled, then hell these guys were getting their monthly bonus handed to'em on a silver platter. The Co. has since changed with the Bestway merger and YRC taking over, and not to mention the economic downturn, but as long as the check don't bounce, then I won't either.

Reddaway Las Vegas runs the oldest junk trucks Ive ever driven & therefore dangerous.

After two years working for Reddaway Las Vegas, I found them to be the most disorganized, deceptive company I've ever worked for. Their trucks average several million miles each and are the oldest, most broken-down, and therefore dangerous trucks I've ever driven in 25 years of CDL experience. Go by their yard on Cheyenne, especially on a Sunday when no one is driving them, and you will see a quarter of thier trucks with the hood up. This means there is something serious wrong with truck and you may want to choose another one. Reddaway doesnt bother to send them to a shop, they just sit in the yard broken-down. ____, the TM at Reddaway las vegas also has no problem hiring people for full-time work, knowing that they will only be working part-time extra-board.

I started at reddaway 6 months ago and I love it. It is a real trucking company with excellent equipment, great pay, great benefits, and great hometime. I highly recommend filling out an app with this company.
