First orientation getting paid, it's a joke. They use a EFS Card. I'll still have $33.44 on a check and can't cash it. Can't use the EFS card as well. Keeps declining. So I still have $84.52 on the so call smart fund. Another wards just have my orientation funds can't be released to me at all. Even payroll department can't do a thing about this. Here they want u to enroll a direct deposit with routing number and account. So that's how u lose your orientation money by not get the full amount.

Free parking at terminals

Cons

They are a second rated company. Needed bailing out to keep in business. Very disrespectful dispatchers. Equipment not kept up. The main and only shop don't care about fixing their trucks safe. You will complain about an issue for months. When the problem blows up, they'll treadrivers like it's the drivers fault. Low pay.Low miles.Hone time request sucks. Upper management don't care about you. A bad company to work for. You will get abandoned with no support.

Pros

A great company for people who want to be treated like a slave

Cons

They are con artist. Full of sh.....y attitudes

***MY SMITH TRANSPORT STORY***

I see people ask about them a lot so I figured Id start a thread to track my status with the company. Finished orientation Friday and heading out tomorrow on my first run. Seems like a good company, I was impressed with the orientation. didn't sell me promises of fairys and pixie dust. They laid out the positives and negatives. Anywho not much else to say right now but Ill be updating this post from time to time to update what its like working for them. Be safe out there drivers

Smith Transport sent me an Escrow refund check and im a company driver

I didn't know company drivers had to pay into an escrow account. Some weeks I got a $400 dollar after taxes paycheck and some weeks I got a $700 dollar after taxes paycheck. at Smith Transport , most loads were drop and hook rolls of paper. Rome, Georgia international paper mill with the Georgia Pacific saw mill in the back would have you sweep out your trailer before dropping and hooking.

SMITH TRANSPORT Good or Bad

The company is not bad, miles sometimes you get 2500 nd sometimes you get less average lenght of haul is anywhere between 200 to 800 equipment are well taken care of but they don't give the nice peterbilt with long nose to new hire you gotta be there for 5 years or more, dm are okay but you know people having a bad day sometimes nd you know they will find someone to blame which is gonna be you. it's a good small outfit if you can get your feet in just go for it nd u wont regret it.
