Forget about honesty with this company. Pay is percentage and good luck getting information as to what your next load is paying, and even if they tell you your paycheck will show even less. You’ll get a really good paying load running up to the north. East band dead head back down for nothing. Forget about being legal because to two liars in the Virginia office will force you to PC illegally while their “former dot cop” safety dept looks the other way. Almost went broke with these clowns. Applied to do otr but was baited & switched into northeast regional which meant working out of their “terminal” in Virginia. Forget about getting an honest answer to questions, they get evasive and secretive. Orientation was sloppy and held in a filthy room upstairs near the shop office so you get to hear their “maintenance director” scream at people at the the top of his lungs. Speaking of maintenance, the equipment was garbage. Trucks are t cleaned at all between drivers. They are often filthy especially the mattress. In fact if you’re unlucky enough to be stuck at their run down “shop” they will have you borrow someone else’s truck while they drive yours around… with your belongings in it. There is no real place to rest at that main yard so you get shoved off to the local flea bag motel in a room where other drivers come and go as they please. You have no privacy. Home time was a joke. The minute I got home the two clowns in Virginia would blow up my phone wanting me to go right back out again. There was no getting a moments peace with these people. Also the dispatchers in the Iowa terminal were absolute morons.

Pros

Very little. They may seem decent on the surface but that’s an illusion.

Cons

Dishonest people, often secretive and evasive. Operations director is a total lying snake.

The money was pretty good. But they will run you hard if you let them know that you are hungry for money and lots of miles. They make you feel like part of the family and everyone is so nice. Even the ladies in the billing office knew my name. But you make one mistake, like being late and they never let you forget it.

Pros

Family atmosphere. Nice equipment

Cons

Upper management can be rude/uncaring.

Fact versus fiction. If you didn't earn good money, had a bad experience, or were fired from Van Wyk, you deserved it! They don't discriminate based on race, they only discriminate when it comes to poor work performance and attitude. If you're a professional driver, and good person, you get treated like such at Van Wyk Trucking.

Pros

Honest and Caring

Cons

None to speak of yet
