Unethical and downright pushy dispatchers. If you don't play their little games you're in for a miserable career. They say they care, but if you raise any concerns they will immediately get defensive and try making you feel like a horrible employee. I've been here for several years and nothing changes. Time to move on.
Pros
Nothing, unfortunately. I love what I do, just not who I do it for.
Cons
Pushy dispatch, micromanaged, no sense of accomplishment after working long weeks and hours.

A company with no INTEGRITY!!!!
offered me a driving position on Wednesday I had until Friday to accept. I made sure before I left that it was an actual offer and that it was okay to respond back on Friday.
Called 1st thing Friday morning to accept the job and Andrew the guy I interviewed with said that he filled the postion on Thursday. I asked what happened to my offer and agreeing to wait for my response "oh well should have accepted the position on Wednesday"
Huge turn over I see why know.

Northern used to be a great family company but they changed for the worst. They will Micromanage you in the name of "safety" and run you into the dirt, tell you how to log your time, and try guilting you into doing extra. They are trying to become a mega carrier and it shows. Expect to get told how to do your job regardless how long you've been doing it. They say one thing to appease you and do the opposite. Dispatch has favorites and most have no idea what we go thru in the trucks but are quick to tell you how to do your job. Burnout is real here!
Local pay is a joke (no overtime pay but you can expect to work 14hr days 5-6 days a week). If you go OTR the pay is a little better but if you run hard and get back to MI in good timing at the end of the week, your hopes of going home before dinner are quickly crushed by being sent allover MI for mileage pay instead of hourly while they send the local hourly drivers home early.
Pros
Can't think of any unfortunately
Cons
Micromanaged, expected to go above and beyond day in and day out, dispatchers are extremely pushy
