JMO Escrow is not a normal function except for a lease purchase.
As long as folks such as yourself perpetuate such actions as normal, it won't diminish as fast as it has risen to be perceived as normal.
It is mainly used to offset operating costs of poorly run trucking companies.
Instead of an escrow a legitimate one will hire a qualified vetted driver and help them succeed.
Companies that have escrow usually have many trucks abandoned and probably deserve it.
What are your thoughts on this...

Indulge me, please.
Everyone go to craigslist for their city. Click "transportation" in the jobs section. Type "escrow" into the search bar. What companies are listed that require escrow and how much is it?
@Dennixx don't lump me into some BS group of people that you perceive as the cause of all the negative propagation of escrow accounts. That's basic. I'm no more responsible for escrow accounts at a trucking firm than you are responsible for their hiring practices.
I will agree with you about at least one thing though...because you just made my point for me, that I've tried to make for 2 days now: perpetuating perceived "normal" behavior is something we all can do! I've been asking what can be done about rates and offered the suggestion that people learn how to provide decent and fair rates. That behavior, in my opinion, could keep the pendulum from swinging so high at each end.Another Canadian driver and tscottme Thank this. -

If they are doing something illegal out in the open, what are they doing behind closed doors?
In monetary terms, employee wage theft far outstrips shop lifting (#2) or burglary (#3) combined with aggravated robbery (#4). Normalizing employee escrow funds normalizes theft. We're not messing with his head, you're pulling the wool over his eyes.
NO, N-O, NO, NO-NO-NO-NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
As part of a lease agreement, yes. In regards to employment, no.
SFI has a maintenance escrow for new leaders that follows the truck where ever it goes. Sign on with Landstar or Mercer? Sure, lease terms don't change. But any company that requires a deposit on company owned equipment immediately becomes disreputable.MartinFromBC, Another Canadian driver, REO6205 and 2 others Thank this. -
