I bought a new Cub cadet 27 hp 54” cut rider and used it for 16 years with no problems. Last year I bought a new JD X580 rider with 54” cut, seat from day one had issues. Went to the service dept and they told me to bring it in, after looking at it they all agreed it was a warranty issue and said they would order a new seat base, 5 months later and still no seat base for a 2025 model machine. Hard to believe….

Just out of curiosity why an old style riding mower like the x580? Why not a zero turn instead?

User friendly. Wife can hook up the trailer and do her yard stuff, the power steering is nice for her. And I have a steep bank above the pool, last thing I need is a mower getting away from her or one of the grandkids….

I know why you asked, and Jim answered exactly what I thought. My wife hates the zero turn, and a friend's wife got messed up bad when a tree caught her on a zero turn.

You may not remember, but when you drove around to my shop and parked by the building, looking at our house there is a little gray & white building across the driveway. Other side of that building the bank goes up to the backyard. When I haul firewood up there to stack on the back porch I use the Case farm tractor with the carryall. I can’t fill the carryall up completely or the front tires will come up off the ground. Even when on the ground I have to steer it with the brakes going up…..

Took me about 30 seconds on Google to find the owners manual PDF including the lubrication maintenance section for that model of lawn mower. Maybe read beyond just headlines that are written just to get people riled up.

That thread even includes links to the manual the guy was complaining isn't available.

What exactly does this have to do with trucking and questions for owner operators?

Any distraction out of windshield is trucking related . Venting on a life related topic is good . Move along if not happy with reading a particular post . Off soapbox now .
