Confirmed. Got fleet message. We are now allowed to cover the lens as long as it causes no damage. Think I'll put my all seeing eye pendant I got in a secret meeting somewhere, over the lens.
Johnceeena and RedRover Thank this. -
WOW!!!! Next they'll be turning the governed speed back up to 65...a mega that listened to their driver's complaints...now I've seen it all.
-
Lol why would anyone deal with a nanny cam in their truck? I'm sure the applications will come rolling in now...
Toomanybikes and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Now it's basically outward facing only. Lots of companies have them or are getting them.ExOTR Thanks this.

Congrats Swift drivers!
I am skeptical though. I wonder if their lawyers recommended it. Since the drivers are sleeping and living in the truck as well, it's like videotaping a home. I could see a lot of privacy issues or misconduct of footage being leaked. If you're in your truck having solo fun and someone hits your parked truck who gets to see that video? -
Can't speak specifically too Swift maybe @Moosetek13 or someone else can answer.
I see a lot of them covered up when parked. Or really closing the curtains will basically cover the lense.
Of course it's still recording Audio. Along with forward facing. -
Tomorrow there will be 12 new threads here from Swift drivers wanting to know if they should get a lawyer & fight tickets they got for talking on their cell phones.
CasanovaCruiser, Redtwin, KillingTime and 2 others Thank this. -
A couple months ago things changed with the inner camera. It stopped recording when you went off duty. It didn't turn back on again until you were driving, so there was no longer a need to cover it during rest breaks.
And yes, closing the front curtain covers the lens.
The thing is, Swift has seen the light with many things lately. Likely due to the change in upper management.
Jerry retired.
So now the all intrusive driver cams are being downgraded to only see in front.
We are also getting inverters installed at the factory or by the shops. I have an 1800W in my new truck, while many are getting 2500W inverters installed at the terminal shops.
And need I remind everyone...
It was Swift, under Jerry, that started the last big driver pay raise. Once he did that all the other companies HAD to follow the Swift example.misterG, Boattlebot, Lepton1 and 3 others Thank this.
