There are other way's trucking companies can produce there propaganda too. One way might be to develop a website through their truck drivers.

So when are you going to decide on a company or are you just a window shopper? I think you are a little harsh on the Prime drivers on the Prime site. If you go on there without an attitude like you already have the answers, they are quite helpful. They may get distracted with something but I have usually gotten good answers.

Most of that site is for Prime drivers to help one another be successful as drivers whether they are company or lease. It is not designed to recruit drivers. An interested driver is welcome to go there and ask questions but understand, you are a guest at a family gathering and jumping on family members does not bode well.

I came to this website about 6 mos. ago to find how truck driving was being effected and or going to be effected by this rapid down turning market/economy. My perception was that the market was going to take a big dump and trucking jobs would be greatly effected. What I encountered here were people that carried that 'power of positive thinking' mentality rather than look at the big picture. So, since I was met so much Happy Horse **** I just cruised along finishing up my remodel project; which I'm about done with now.

As it turned out my thoughts and observations, based on empirical knowledge, were correct. Trucking has taken a hit. I originally wanted to go to Schneider but as we have heard they have closed their training programs. Had I know that trucking was going to get hit so hard as to shut down SNI I would have closed up this house and got with Schneider. Their training is good. It lasts for 4-6 weeks then your driving SOLO, not that team ****. Back to Prime, I don't like team driving, no American should have to be subjected to this vial punishment, and Prime obtains their teams in a big way by insisting on drivers going through 80,000 miles of it. New drivers are put in a position of being abused because they don't know what is appropriate and acceptable. Conveniently, there seems to be no rules or standards to control the trainer or the company as it pertains to trainee's. A kind of deregulation environment. The kind of environment that has killed this country, it's economy.

On the subject of the Prime driver sight. It is controlled by a few so called drivers, that don't like certain questions to be asked, and they try, and turn things around on the person that asked the question they don't like. They like to blame drivers for all their problems rather than focus on the real problems; bad shipper info., bad receiver info, bad dispatcher, poor management. They like to string drivers along by telling them to go to Acer 2 classes and on and on. :biggrin_25526:

One other point. It has been suggested that companies may monitor these websites and favor those that promote the company. :yes2557:

I have been looking at different co. To go with and i have liked primes
program... They might run you a little hard but it is on the job training
and you do get paid for the training.. If you go to a school you will
spend 3 weeks or more just to get your cdl.. And no pay.. Then go to a
company and drive for 2-4 months and recive some pay and then go solo..
What i have read about prime you can recive $240.00 for the fist week
(i do relize this is a advance and paid back $25.00 per week) than you make
$600.00 a week or .12cpm with is ever is more.. Then you will go to what ever division you want.. And my be some day if it is right for you go l/o
i have done the numbers and at least for the first 6-8 months you will make more money with prime.. No out of pocket money for school...
And just like i have read in some of these post the job is what you make it, if you have a good out look you should do good... If you dont like working long hours or being taught how to drive while making money then maybe you should stay where you are at or go a different line of
work.. There are going be good and bad about all companys...
    Take it or leave it.............

You can take some or all of the $240. remember even though it is available that first friday, you are expected to feed yourself the following week while out with an instructor. and each week until you test out for you CDL.

I never hurt for cash with this amount (to eat off) and sometimes my instructor would buy a meal just cuz he was cool... later, he kept me for training and I would return the favor or buy him some smokes.

if you blow your money or use it for something else, dont expect your instructor to feed you... he may anyway but he doesnt have to and wont be reimbursed from the company...

The amount of money that Prime pays you a week when OTR with a trainer running as a team will not be much. If you make $600 a week average remember that taxes will be taken out along with money you spend for food. You might take home a little over $300 a week.

Well, mannmk7, I never had problems getting answers (although recently a thread got hijacked but when I pointed that out it went back to topic). I seem to recall some of the questions you asked then your replies seemed to attack the responder. Just a personal observation. YOu have decided you don't like Prime and that is fine. But since you really have no personal knowledge of the company it seems a bit counterproductive to come here and bad-mouth them or the driver's site.

For those of you considering Prime the driver's site is a good source of information for people considering Prime. Since the rules of this site do not allow posting the address, if you are interested and have PM privileges, I will be happy to send you the info. If you do not yet have those privileges let me know as the moderators are happy to pass the info on to you when one of us who do send it through them.

    amhrdwd1 Thanks this.

    What did you ask them?

Your observations are wrong. Just like your understanding of Prime. Prime try's to suck people in with promises. Then relegates them to, trainee, cheap team driver for, a so called trainer.

You recall some questions I asked........! You need to get a handle on your recollection. My responses were never attacks until I was attacked. I was attacked because I asked the hard questions? I was attacked because they didn't want the subject of 'using trainees as night drivers' brought up. They, the lackey's, rather than answer the question, choose to try and turn the question around and put it on me. (You gotta lotta gaul making that statement about me). My responses were always friendly, and receptive. After I was attacked by the p***'s, who do not like the questions I asked, then I jumped back in their ****. (Prime drivers run that site, and they run it for the company, the way I see it). Remember the get paid to recruit drivers and they get paid good.

You go back and copy what I asked, and the responses and my response to the responses !!!!!!!! You prove what you just got through saying.

Now I will counter you on the subject of guiding people to the Prime site:

For those of you who are looking at Prime do not go to the site. It is run by a few guys who pump up Prime, lackey's for the company. When you ask questions the don't like they get mad. These guys who will try and bully you into believing what they want you to believe, then the same group of guys will try and gang up on you with their crap. They will usually blame drivers for the problems they have, and tell them to go to Acer 2 class to learn more. This is designed to keep the new drivers moving them trailers forward as long as they can, as cheap as they can, at the drivers expense.

One post I read on this site, said, 'that trucking companies go to these websites, and they reward people who talk up the companies.

Anyone wanting info on Prime will find it right hear on this website. Your are better off looking carefully at the bad stuff, than the good stuff talked up by the same ol' guys. You will be at least prepared for the worst.

Just this day, or night such as the case might be, someone wrote about wil-trans, a part of Prime. Apparently he was tricked into leaving a company and going to wil-trans/prime. Then after he quit they told him he would have to drive team as a trainee for 6 mos. He refused and found another job.

    x 2 !

I remember those yahoo's over at PD. It was good for a chuckle or two. Going to their site is no better than talking to a recruiter. It's your fault, talk of where to buy tires for trucks you'll never own, where a team can find an APU (teams don't need APU's, because the truck never stops..or so we thought) blah blah boo. Prime always seemed to smell rotten and that is confirmed by visiting that company sponsored site.

Thanks for offering up your experience. People need to hear it especial the new guys.

I think way to many companies string people along for 6 mos. to a year, until they just can't take it anymore. The people have to bail out and the company keeps their check and even give's them fines because they can't fight the DAC REPORT etc., and the companies know it.

I seems that these companies have a strategy for getting and keeping those trucks moving on the cheap, at the expense of drivers.
