Beat up the dispatcher? No man we use the diplomatic approach and go through our chain of command, if there is a issue with the dispatcher, take the issue to the ops manager and most likely it will stop and be resolved there, if not, go to the terminal manager next, and keep going until issue is resolved, most LTL companies are legit, you lay a hand on anybody in the terminal you will be fired immediately and most likely straight to jail I would imagine.

Piss off one of the customers to the point where they throw you out, then get back to me.

I've actually done that one a few times over the years. That's the customers problem to deal with.

Im required to wear yellow safety vests at my job and stopped wearing it after a few months. They never said anything to me, they even praised me on my good work. Everyone else wears theirs though

At Reddaway linehaul didn't have any uniforms. Even when they did, nobody would wear them (probably why they got rid of them). Your dispatcher is the one controlling your miles, so it was wise to be on good terms with them. It honestly wasn't bad at all. They told me where to go and what to bring along and there really wasn't much fighting on the phone. I'd occasionally veto him if the equipment was unsafe or if the roads were too snowy to risk pulling a third box. We had mutual respect and he was understanding.

When I swapped over to P&D you dealt more with management and customers. We had a driver that was banned from Home Depot because he got into a fist fight with the shipping and receiving crew. They didn't fire him for whatever reason but he was not allowed on their property.

There are some places that will let you get away with quite a bit. Don't test the waters with both feet though. Also, alot of these terminal managers talk to each other for work reasons and maybe cause they are friends. If you need out, don't burn your bridges.

It may be different in foodservice or beverage delivery. We had a guy go off on one of our customers when I was working for 7up/Snapple. He was fired on the spot

They were all when I was a ups driver. I went thru a period of using my job as a dating service. You can imagine how well it worked out when I would move on to the next one lol.

They say a woman likes a man in uniform. Lol I think anybody who has worked local has used that platform to get some action. I know I did my fair share. That's why I am always so confused by the notion that OTR drivers have women everywhere. I got more action when I was local hahahaha

Haha you and bryan both have a point, the dress blue uniforms of the U.S.Marine Corps are deffinetly chick magnets, but now that I think about it, UPS drivers may actually rival them in that department, chicks do seem to dig UPS drivers.
