Just looking for thoughts or if anyone has done this run, I'll be leaving for orientation soon. The run is out of Albany NY, m-f with a starting time of 4am pulling a curtain side and making about 6 stops a day. Pay is .53cpm averaging 1500 miles a week plus $12 for every stop. I can run home once or twice during the week since I only live about 25 min from the terminal. Does this sound like a good gig for getting into trucking?

$12 dollars a stop is not very good IMO.
53 cents a mile is not bad if you can get 2500 to 3000 miles a week.

Thanks for the opinions until I leave for orientation I'll keep looking but there isn't much in my area for someone that has no experience in last 3 years.

Checking back on this thread as it relates to the same position in Stockton, CA. Any driver on the forum that runs out of this yard that can update?

Schneider don’t allow intelligent life forms in the truck.

If they’re offering the same as they did the OP, it’s a crap gig.

They told him 1500 miles a week? $800 a week? $12 per stop? You’ll make $1200 gross a week. That’s crap for anywhere. You’re in Cali. The OP in DC area.

Where do you wanna live, in a van down by the river? You can’t rent a dog house for that in either place.

True that -- and pretty much moot at this point. When the Recruiter called me to ask if I had any questions, she followed with confirmation that a driver was hired and enroute to orientation as we spoke. Good for the driver and the company! I declined the other potential options -- have a pretty good gig locally, and I am one of those old guys that like to stay in the mix, learn new skills, and torment my kids that there are jobs out there, but one has to actually apply and process through the steps.

I will keep an eye on this one though for future availability as the recruiter indicated an hourly start wage that was pretty good --haven't seen that before with Schneider.

You realize there's a crap load of people
Making 12 bucks an hour, that would kill for that
    1200 bucks a week.
With no other options to get it.
    No matter where they live.

It's not a bad job if he's living in moms basement
Or splitting rent with someone else.
Your not paying mortgage and raising a family
On that alone in New York.

    Frank Speak Thanks this.
