Hi truckers. I am beginner in the reefer business and I am owner operator. Few days ago i picked up a load from IA to PA. Fresh turkey in those big bins. They put a seal and when i got to the delivery the cargo have shifted 3ft towards the front(tractor). They broke the seal unloaded me and at the end they gave me the paperwork and told me that 3bins were damaged (total lost product). I told mu dispatch and broker. The broker said that he is going to send claim for the product that was damaged.
Do I need to worry about paying for the damaged product out of my paycheck or the insurance will cover it?
Thank you very much for your help

Total lost product so it stayed on your trailer?? Or they took it for free and washed it before processing..

Roll on. Let the paper pushers handle it.
You reported it uphill and they said it's in motion.
Insurance is there for this.
More common than you think... just not to each individual driver. -
A 3ft load shift is not good. Im not sure how they load a reefer trailer but i would be wanting everything pushed together and blocked so there is no moving. A 3ft load shift in flatbed has the potential to kill u depending what it is

I was told by someone not to contact the broker. I forgot how my husband handles situations like this. The factoring company?
And make sure they sign for what you leave behind. -
Had a 3 foot load shift of Miller beer due to a heavy braking maneuver in Chicago. What a mess.... I liked the way Butt-wiper made their false bulkheads, anyway. Miller just uses a couple cargo straps and plastic pallet dividers, anheuser uses stacked pallets.
PE_T Thanks this.
