During this time of a national crisis truck drivers have never been more thanked and respected. The only people that can keep us from doing our jobs are cops, D.O.T. And weigh stations. Well and you yourself because youre lazy and cant wait to get to the next loves or pilot to park in the fuel island because youre to lazy or just dont know how to park in a normal parking spot. I myself have not been pulled over or seen a weigh station open in over 2 weeks. Except the jerk on i70 east on the ohio indiana stateline scale. Wednesday that was open. Luckily drivers were smart enough to not go in there and stood together as one. Standing up for themselves by giving the scale master a piece of their mind and refusing to go in. It was awesome to see truckdrivers standing together for once. I understand safety and the laws of the road. I didnt get 3 million accident free miles without an overweight ticket because im lucky. Lets put ourselves in the COPS shoes for a minute. You spot a truck doing 74 in a 65. And you know they could be helping out with covid19 relief. Do you stop him and do a roadside inspection?? Boy i sure wouldnt. Now i have the option of opening a weigh station or going on patrol to help with actual criminals. So then how do we stay safe if cops and weigh stations "leave us alone". Its simple actually, drivers its up to us to do our part. Do youre pretrip and or post trip inspection. The main thing is to make sure all youre lights and signals work and all youre tires are in good shape. Then lets go trucking to help America and maybe we speed a little bit. Maybe were 85k or 90k lbs because we can haul more to help out more. This is far from making us criminals or being "unsafe" especially if less people are on the road due to state wide "stay in place" laws that by the way no one is obeying. So I plead with officers of the law and state weigh station workers. Use discretion when thinking of who is feeding your family and supplying toilet to youre own home and thanks to the ones who are currently letting us do our jobs and stay safe and healthy out there.

Where are you driving that you don't see weigh stations open lately?
I've been quite surprised to see as many open as usual in several states, the same states that I cannot get anything to eat anywhere.piston865, clausland, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Iowa illinois indiana wisconsin michigan. And again if a weigh station is open i will not be pulling in. I willeither pretend i have prepass or just go by anyway. If they want me that bad they can come get me. Im not bragging or saying im a supertrucker but in 25+ years i have yet to be chased down.

I just started back driving after surgery. My company hasn't given me any directives to speed up so im not. It wouldn't matter any ways. The appointment is planned and it starts when it starts and ends when it ends. Speeding up changes nothing. But they might be taking it easy on me because of my return from medical leave. I dont know but I still obey the law in my car too even though they said on the news they are avoiding routine stops. Tempting as it was to run the red light in front of the police station....
