The rates are really bad here in the western states and I assume those rates are affecting independent O/O like myself. I refuse to haul loads for such a low rates. To be honest with you guys , I don’t who is taking advantage of who ( brokers - shippers) all I know is that the only ones getting screwed in this deal are O/O.
I wonder if LED companies are not getting pay because of this current situation. I also wonder if insurance companies are lowering or pausing the monthly payment ? My truck is paid off , but my reefer is not, so BMO told me that I can skip payments til June.
How is this situación doing for you ? please respond if you are O/O .
IS CORONAVIRUS AFFECTING INDEPENDENT O/O ?

All the good rates I've seen are on the east coast. Pretty flat in the Midwest where I run. I'm just hoping the bottom doesn't fall out.

83 loads in all of Tennessee for flatbed. Typically a hot market. I dropped my truck off at my mechanic yesterday. Told him to.take hos time installing an oil bypass filtration system. I'll probably sit at home till may. My truck, trailer, and home are all paid for so I can sit for awhile. But I'm definitely not getting stuck somewhere or hauling these cheap ### rates

If you find good paying loads, you also have to wonder if you'll ever get paid.

Cheap freight out there. Brokers excuse is "oh fuel is cheap".
Yeah fuel went down a few pennies here on west coast but not mich, loads lowered 300-600 dollars for same lane.Muddydog79, Rideandrepair, chimbotano and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have currently stopped hauling loads for smaller brokers. If I see a load posted by a name I don't recognize or haven't done business with in the past, I just keep scrolling.
Rideandrepair and chimbotano Thank this. -
I think I'd be just as leery of doing business with the big brokerages. Everyone is going to hoard cash to get through this uncertainty. They may pay out if and when they feel their in the clear.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Think of it like dominoes. Where in the line will each fall? Quick pay would be wise to use. And not pulling for just one but diversification of receivables might be a strategy to look at.
D.Tibbitt, TallJoe, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this.
