The shifting is not noticable. The act of shifting that is. Unless the tractor stung me with a wrong gear by happanstance. In other words, engine wants another gear up or down, I make a mental note of it and it gets that gear. The physical act of shifting is not something I worry about. It just gets done.

Regarding the fear, you need to get over that. Grow a pair and hop into the saddle. Or go home and downgrade to a car license and put that out of your mind.

Nothing is forever in trucking. It has a beginning and a end. And fear is part of that experience. Its good for you when applied correctly. I don't drive or worry about the vehicle. it simply becomes part of me. I decide to go there and it goes.

So you want an auto truck because you're tired of playing with sticks in your personal life?

I'd worry more about the job/company than equipment.
If you can get on at UPS do it!
Figure out the transmission later, right after your knees give out driving package car.

    buddyd157 Thanks this.

If you are still shifting you either own your own truck, run heavy haul, or are left in the stone ages the entire industry is just about automatic.
