New trucker offered LA to Seattle dedicated route job (back and forth in 5 days)
I am little worried about the mountain areas on i5 in north of california and oregon, which are narrow and often gets foggy and rainy (and snowy in winter). Undersatnd that no truck jobs are completely safe, but is this route any particularly dangerous? Advice appreciated.

They tend to close the sisters, medford etc And Teton too in winter now and then. You will be sitting in Redding or Willimette waiting for 5 to reopen. They use machines bigger than you are to clear snow higher than you are in truck terms.
I-5 is not particularly dangerous. Just work around the deep snows, that takes a little waiting. No real bypass is possible in those mountains north and south. Just change appt time for when it's open. Save your money.
Dedicated back and forth isnt that bad. Its nice actually. Your world will have order as long that arrangement continues. Unlike most of us who do not know where we will have dinner tomorrow.
Now if Mt St Helens blows up or yellowstone erupts or the Subduction quake offshore happens and so on you will be the first to know it. And be in Gods hands at that point. So sit back have a nice trip and enjoy your day. -
That route is a killer. Make no mistake, if you live through even a single run it was probably by mistake.

Thousands of trucker run that route daily. Yes, the weather can get dicey at times, but if it gets bad, Park It.

Much safer than I80 through Wyoming or I70 through Snoqualmie. Weather is a minor issue with that run. Traffic is the killer. You will hit traffic in LA, Sacramento, Portland and Seattle. It can take 20 minutes to get through Portland or 3 hours depending on when you get there. I wouldn't touch that run with a stick UNLESS it pays by the hour.
If you're a Washington driver you probably work hourly already. If you're a California driver you probably get a cpm rate.jon69, umd0921 and FoolsErrand Thank this.
