    I took on your question.

If Swift paid 1200 gross a week, take away 35% for withholding you have about 800 for 70 hours work in a week. 10.00 something a hour.

They bend over backwards to tell you may make LESS.

    Truck Driver Salary

In my experience from the 80's to 2001 OTR inflation destroyed good pay. 67000 for two of us in 2001 worked out to 4.52 a hour for 7500 hours give or take or 306 service days for that year logged away from home. OR... 34000 some dollars for me and wife each. Thats over about 250,000 total miles run.

Ergo 27 cents a mile. Average each.

Pay might possibly come down some but not too much. We could even see some big layoffs in trucking but trucking companies better think twice before they start firing drivers. When the economy begins to just think about turning around trucking is the first industry that’s in high demand. The economy can still be in the tank but just the fact that it’s beginning to recover sends the trucking industry into overdrive. And if you’re a company and you laid off your drivers, guess what? You’ll be behind the curve.

don’t expect any bonuses though. Those won’t be around during this mess. If you’ve already been hired and have one locked in, you might still get it. Bonuses are based on what you’ve already done for the company. IE they’ll pay you a little less that first year and give it to you at the end of the year in a big bonus. But that’s gone now I’m sure.

.40-.42 it’s probably a fair and good starting point right now. If things turn around, and they will, then you could go in and ask for a raise. I wouldn’t drive for no $.36 a mile. Under any circumstances. Especially with the amount of inflation that is coming.

I would never have signed myself for 40 cents. I'm even thinking of passing on epes for 42 cents . Crete hires at 53 cents . Jbs carriers hires at 45 cents

6 days by 600 miles... throw day 7 away as load/unload or reset?

Very doable even with a governed truck if you got a good dispatcher/planner.

That's just mathematics example. Everything would have to go perfect every day. I don't see that happening. Even on paper log book that was hard to do. ELD can't be changed and show real driving time and the 14 hour clocks with loading and unloading

At Schneider I was hired at 42CPM with a 1 cent raise after 3 months last year March 2019 as a first time driver. I drove 8 1/2 hrs a day out 7 days week 1 and out 5 days out week 2 working off recaps and 2 1/2 days at home. My check would come out to $1100+ week 1 and $860+ week 2 net after taxes. I could have hammered down did more but I don’t do 34hr resets on the road.
