What is your favorite way to keep 4 inch 30 foot straps rolled tight and stowed away in the box so they won't fluff out.

Personally, I like to roll them free end first so the hook is "out", then hang the hook on the rubrail and take the roll between my palms and get them really tight. Kinda hard to explain. One plus for me rolling them this way is you're throwing the strap and not the hook as well.
I do assume we're talking about straps with a flat hook.scottied67 and Lostkeys Thank this. -
Try those big rubber bands they sell at truck stops. I use a strap winder and get them tight, then back off half a turn, rubber band and tuck them away.
Tug Toy, SUPERFASTSALEEN, Tb0n3 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Cut up an old inner tube for rubber bands. Lawn mower front tire is about the right size.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
I use the rubber bands most of the time. But like @FoolsErrand said, an old inner tube works just as well.
@Klleetrucking, I roll my straps just like you do. I roll starting at the free end and hang it on the rub rail and pull really tight to condense the strap as small as possiblescottied67 and Klleetrucking Thank this. -
I use old motorcycle Heavy Duty tubes hold up good

I roll em up , but dont get em tight , i do it the quick way and can out perform most strap winders . I seen guys use rubber bands, to much work and more equipment to keep track of.. Get some pieces of wood and block off a section of storage box and put starps in that one section . Roll em up hook out and place strap sitting up right with hook flat onbottom of box. Keeps them from unraviling. Put them side by side and stack high. I put extra ones that have banding , at the front of the box and it keeps all the rest in check and keep them from unraviling. The only problem is most flatbedders got so much frickin equipment , no matter how much storage u have its never enough and it gets cluttered real quick
frito bandito, FoolsErrand, roshea and 2 others Thank this. -
You running open deck now?
I used to put them in my box side ways, eye to the side so to speak, and just put them next to each other so they didn't have room to unroll. Three to a row, do a few rows and start stacking them in pyramid formation. Tended to keep them together just fine.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Yes. It is pretty cut and dry. Roofing tiles one way and treated utility poles going the other way. Same kind of loads all the time so no fancy securement knowledge needed as when you haul all kinds of different open deck freight each load. So far so good....Last edited: Apr 19, 2020
