That’s what this driver said, was going so fast he lost control.tommymonza, D.Tibbitt, lovesthedrive and 6 others Thank this. -
Here is why.
DISPATCH HORSE whipping driver to go fast and deliver yesterday. No sleep allowed. Thats what burns out the driver.
Dispatch who could not be bothered to care if you puff along at 35 mph (Pun unintended...) all day and half the night and constantly late is a company that wont endure a long time. They will go out of business.
And companies who insist on casterating big trucks to run 61 in a Texas 85 mph super highway is setting themselves up for trouble. Such idiocy. We are fixing to go 75 in about a little over a month. Never mind the fact that we are already there in practice, have been for years.
For me to be in a 18 wheeler and NOT to have stress means several things need to happen. No nicky picky BS messages I cannot do anything about, no bothering me at home. No excessive wasted days waiting on loading or unloading. Have the money on hand to pay whatever needs fixing on that truck without excessive mothers may we? and listen to me when I tell you that such a such a appt time is no good. Try this time and date instead. I am sick and tired of having to roll all stressed to meet promises made by brokers or company suits who don't know what it means to drive a 18 wheeler.
And if anyone wants to give me a hard time, consider this.
Your family cannot barely make it to the doctor across town or even down the street on time for your appt. And we are increasingly expected to be somewhere 2000 miles across the USA and or Canada in all weather to the minute. 10 minutes late gets you fired.
HA. The nerve.
Stress? No thats not the stress to worry about. Not yet. its the one who has been kicked too often who snaps that you need to be afraid of.
And a parting shot for that ELD.
If you can time it to be at local midnight company time with about 1 minute 30 seconds against your daily clock and maintain speed limit on a fresh new working day when 12.01 clicked over... then alls well.
I rather just toss the paper log into the pile and deal with it come breakfast time at the end of the delivery. All of that will be sorted nicely for eveyone concerned. No need for that absolute precision in a industry full of spinning money, splashing mud and failed equiptment that cannot maintain regen etc.RidgeRunner731, dwells40, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
um, ok.

I guess I am the stressed one. LOL.
Some of us need that to get going. One time FFE Dispatch in three locations messaged us when we completed a hook up of a known hot load in Avenel NJ and asked us will we make it to LA California in time? Looks like we are 10 minutes late already.
I blew up at them. 10 #### minutes late on a 3000 mile run with a #### 63 mph truck. HA the nerve.
I managed to get that trailer there 20 minutes early by skipping one fuel stop in Memphis and fueling at Holbrook AZ with about 6 gallons left in the tanks after about 2100 miles. That saved about a hour.
Their precious 10 minutes. If she ran through those tanks nice and dry stranding us in say NM then there will be holy hell to pay along with the firings.
They were overjoyed. Might be hours before they get to the load in question. Its not that important.RidgeRunner731, WesternPlains, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
