Can it be done? Like a truly 1 week on, 1 week off etc OTR job? And where to look? Doesn’t have to be exactly 1 week on, 1 off, but maybe close to it? Anyone drive like this?
Part time OTR?

I've never heard of that. Even regional is usually 1 week on and 2-3 days off. You want an entire week off after only running 1 week? Haha, I don't even get that much and I stay out 3 weeks.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
It exists. It’s a jump seat position, usually in conjunction with another part time driver. Schneider and many others have similar programs.

I think knight does it.
1 week on 1 week off
2 weeks on 2 weeks off.
If you have a small 5 to 20 truck operation
Somewhere around where you live.
Walk in the the door and ask if they need a relief driver.
You'd fill in whenever any of the full time drivers wanted
Time off,vacations,family problems,doctor appointments,
Anything.
There happy just to keep the truck rolling without
Having to hire another full time driver.BIGOtrucking, Coffey and Lennythedriver Thank this. -
The people I work for have a 4 days on 4 days off deal. You have to share the truck with another driver. So basically slip seating in a sleeper truck.

Makes sense, as long as the truck is moving, they’re making money. I was more curious as to what type of scenarios existed. Doubtful I’ll opt for part time driving, but I’ve ran my own small businesses before and was thinking to drive part time while I launched something on the side. The one thing I’ve learned in two years about being a full-time over the road driver..... is you ain’t doing anything else on the side to make money while driving full time.

CDL staffing services have jobs like that.
Work when you want to.
You're not job hopping because the staffing service pays you, not the trucking company you're sent to.
There's dozens of staffing services.
Trillium is one that has a good reputation.
