From 6 different drivers recently, I have talked to they would quit K&B if they had more options atm apparently none of them know of this site so that maybe why. As for swift, they don't pay the best by any means but as for opportunities I would pick them over small companies for a person who wanted local by any means your more likely find it with swift. I have had a lot worse experience with smaller companies than the bigger ones of all kinds of shady bs and when they do I give them the same answer, "I need you to pucker up to kiss it where the sun doesn't shine. " funny enough had one that agreed I guess she liked strange things.
K&B, CR England every driver I talk to hate it there last one I talked to left trucking to be a trailer washer for 18$ an hour which aint bad when I used to do that I was paid 21$p/h and that was in midland. -
Oh I agree they are far from the best company out there. I seriously thought about going back home and getting a local driving job before COVID-19 hit. Many local day cab positions require hazmat, doubles/triples, and/or tanker endorsements (all of which I do not have). I don’t recruit for them and never will because I will tell potential drivers the truth and nothing but the truth (not the lies recruiters tell ). I worked for a mega carrier and there are some aspects (not all) about the mega carriers that make this place look like hell compared to them. I do hate it here to some degree but it’s more I wish there were some things I wish they would change that could make it a better company (like a lot of companies out there). If they didn’t have a personal conveyance policy and allowed 34 hour resets then they would have a completely different business operation. The way they operate you get very little sleep unless you sacrifice things like showers, eating, laundry, shopping, etc. There were quite a bit of rollover accidents just last winter alone that were mostly due to inattentive driving (very little sleep). It was split between inattentive driving and weather/road conditions. I couldn’t give you the exact statistics just what comes across the Qualcomm everyday. Time management is key here when planning breaks. Unless your recaps suck they expect you to be ready right after your 10 is up. Wanting you to do a relay smack dab in the middle of your mandatory 10 hour break and add it to the beginning or end of your break so a load can deliver on time. They want you to unhook ahead of time and leave paperwork with trailer so that you’re break doesn’t get interrupted. However oftentimes the other relay driver will knock on door anyways or truck stop will have a conniption with a dropped trailer. They expect you to live unload and stay on break so that you can roll right after break by either staying at customer or personal conveying over to truck stop after unload (therefore sometimes not getting but maybe 3-4 hours sleep if you’re lucky). This is the only company I’ve ever worked for where they expect other drivers and police to knock on doors if a driver doesn’t answer their phone while on their break. If you can deal with all that then this company might be for you. They don’t tell you this stuff in orientation and it’s what runs a lot of drivers off. Many drivers leave here and go local because they’ve been screwed over so many times and are burned out driving OTR. Happy 4th everyone
