Why does Gary,IN have such a bad reputation

No worries I do most of my east west parking in ohio and iowa .

 

Exit 6 has always been an especially dangerous area, exit 9 is a little better. 15, and 22, much safer.

 

I snuggle up at the TA exit 6 often. It's so shady most the time you can find parking all hours

 

Anybody here remember Jerry Hamman out of cohasset mn ? In the late 80s somebody stole one of their trucks off the fuel island at the steel city truckstop .

 

You ever go to the south instead of north? There is a Road Ranger there with parking for like 20 trucks. If you get there halfway early before 8 there is usually parking.

Rubens is across the street 500 feet away. Great Italian beef with fries $5. Chicago dog with fries 3.50! It’s been around for 50 years.

Adult entertainment a short walk down the road with reasonable ####tail prices And no cover.

Perfectly safe to walk there and entertainment isn’t half bad.

But I have spent a fair amount of time down in the industrial Hood of Miami and a few 3 rd world countries so not easily intimidated.

If a guy wants to Jack me for the 50 bucks I have on me he can gladly have it. And never carry a wallet.

I got my cdl with a mega out of Gary. We drove around the area constantly. Sad to see.

 

Back in my dart days ( late 80s early 90s ) there was a bar called cotton and reds near the old truckstop on 20 in gary ...another dart driver took me there and was very rough then .
Wouldnt dream of that now ! Lol

The problem I have with that road ranger is it was always disgusting. I haven't been in there in a couple of years since road ranger split from pilot, but back then it was like the employees got a bonus if the grime around the coffee machines got to the point you could measure it with a ruler.
